6-5

because as above, you don't actually change the number of goals to "count double" on the scoreboard, you do the math in your head and say "team won on away goals"

Technically, the score would be 6-5. The actual score on the scoreboard would be 4-4 with Sunderland winning on away goals.

It's hardly the massive error that some people are suggesting.

You can tell we aren't used to this away goals malarkey.

"both teams have 4 goals but Sunderland scored 2 away from home compared to man utd's 1 away from home, so sunderland win. Final score = 4-4, winner = Sunderland.
Thats just nit picking. I was just showing the calculations for the final step . The board would only show 4-4

People are either being arses or clearly don't understand the rules themselves and jumping on the bandwagon.

The 6-5 special's coming down the line.
The 6-5 special's right on time.
Any one over 60 might remember that. One of the first pop tv shows.

Not for any particular reason. Just reminded me.

BBC would show 4-4 on aggregate, sunderland win on away goals. That's what I was referring to.

People are mocking because all though you're not completely wrong, it's an odd way to present the final score.

Ya areet to give it out in other peoples threads though ant ya, think before you post sunshine.

So let's get this right, if it finishes 2-1 to the Mancs and no goals in extra time we go to pens. We only have to score 3 pens out of 5 because they will count double, giving us 6. Even if they score all theirs we win 6-5 on pens, right?

Oh look.. a mag jumping on the bandwagon.

Have a f***ing word with yerself FFS.

Here's the official rules mate:

"13.5: In the Semi-Final ties, if the aggregate score is level at the end of the second game an extra half-hour shall be played.

If the aggregate scores are still level at the end of extra time the tie shall be decided by goals scored away from home counting twice.

If the teams remain equal after this procedure the tie shall be determined by the taking of kicks from the penalty mark in accordance with the Laws of Association Football."

I've also heard that if Altidore scores, it counts double, but doesn't count as an away goal. What, if anything, might this change?

why are we worrying anyway, win, lose or draw, we'll be in Europe won't we? .......... is that right?

this is worse than DaveyLad (now banned) asking about the match being a 4 o clock kick off.

turns out he had just returned from Paris so the timezone on his phone was wrong

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

you don't need to worry about this at all as it has been decided between both clubs that IF in the unlikely even Jozy scores we immediately win the game and get a goal headtstart in the final
