The cricket has not only totally turned round Englands fortunes and has been the best cricket to watch in my lifetime. That’s nonsense. When the cricket has been excellent it’s been said. When some of it hasn’t been, it’s been criticised.
What the Bazball cheerleaders aren’t having is that any of this might be wrong at times. There is also absolutely no evidence whatsoever that this approach is revolutionising test cricket. That type of comment is delusional and patronising. Are Australia going to be jetting back with the urn retained, possibly with a first series victory in 22 years, thinking that they need to adopt the English method? I very much doubt it.
They had to find something to make it better, because most test series were really for the cricket purists and interest was eroding quickly. There needs to be a place for test cricket, but it couldn’t just rely on Ashes series to keep it going. The answer probably lies somewhere near baseball but with a bit more intelligence thrown in - just swinging at everything is not sensible, so in the last 2 matches they seem to have got it right.Jason Gillespie made a good couple of points in an online article. Stokes is trying to save test cricket, did the Ashes need saving he asked? He also said Australia came to take the Urn back with them which they achieved with a test to go. Going into this test, England are 2-1 down at home yet Australia are getting bashed for the nature of their cricket
Someone should tell Stokes cricket is a results business first and foremost. You do what you need to do to win ie, bashing it at 6 an over is not going to work in every test
I telt yers !My balls say a couple of hours of intermittent rain incoming circa 2 pm.
Who said they aren’t bothered about results? You got a source for it as it sounds wrong? The thing that gets me is when they say they aren’t bothered about results as they are in the entertainment business. That’s utter bollocks really as all sport is based upon results . If England lose their next 10 tests as it’s unlikely as that is, Stokes and McCullun would surely be relieved of their duties.
Why do you keep posting about it.Yay they are showing The Hundred
You're totally and utterly wrongPersonally 'Bazball' has been a bit of a revelation in terms of test cricket( it needed it)...I've throughly enjoyed this Ashes series and I've admired Stokes' approach to it..but I still think with all this guns blazing approach he still had to couple it with a pragmatic view to win..
We've had alot of opportunities to win this series but we seemed to press the self-destruction button at vital times!
And yes...we all want to bash the Aussies but a little bit of savvy was needed at crucial times..
Well that's my take on it fwiw
No doubt someone will be along shortly with some long winded paragraph clap trap to tell me I'm totally and utterly wrong![]()

Nobody is bothered.
Durham playing Northumberland is more interesting than The Hundred.
