4th test Manchester

The inspection was at 12:15 but it stopped raining a good 30 mins before right? You’re saying no on made an effort to get out in that time and get things ready?

Test cricket really doesn’t help itself does it.

I’m no purist like but playing the elements is one thing, but rain cancelling play is archaic.
Sky clearly showed pictures of the pitch with only the security staff round the perimeter. Cricket just doesn't help itself, zero desire, but at least they've all had lunch.

They have (or had) a massive black cover made of the stuff Post Office bags are made from, covers the entire pitch.

They might have upgraded (the last time I was there for a gig was Radiohead) but they definitely had one.

Point is these things exist, and it can't be beyond the wit and wisdom of a ground holding a test match to have one.

I assume that they must have looked into covering the whole ground... Edgbaston used to, but I don't think they do it now. Must be a scientific reason.

Large covers on reels between boundary and advertising boards or behind advertising boards, easy to deploy and retrieve, they'd still have to be dried before removal after rain, clearing the water from the covers takes time.

Betfair exchange line on Australia second innings total runs is at 214, so most likely scenario is no play at all, if that isn't stating the obvious..

A north wind is going to move that monstrous band across Manchester this aft. Be amazed if they get any further play
