Has he??? He's nowhere near the leading run scorers, and he hasn't faced that many balls either.

His job isn't to face balls, it's get a quick score on the board and put the bowlers on the back foot. Stokes has said so himself.

Also, 37.21 is the average for an opener in England test history. So I don't think his averages this summer is too far from that - and he's playing a fantastic bowling attack.

I posted this before, he was averaging around 32.6 over the first 3 tests. That’s very good imo considering the opposition.

It looks like this series could be the making of him.
