Spot on mate. Whilst I appreciate some quarters highlighting his limitations of late esp lack of red ball cricket. Its the piss taking from the convicts i take umbrage with, they are taking the piss on his selection. Saying we were wrong to give him the red carper retirement treatment.

I reckon the selectors have been justified so far and hope Modern pushes on now after a topper start.

I'm biased though, I love him and all he represents. He's one of my sons cricket hero's and one of the reasons he started playing the beautiful game.

The other thing that football needs to learn from cricket (and rugby) is explaining why the decision was made

From rugby maybe. But in cricket they don’t explain lbws at all. Just show you red, orange, green lights. And orange is sometimes out and sometimes not. You’re expected to know the lbw law and the protocol.

That’s where football has its problem. No bugger knows. Or wants to know. Players, fans, pundits glorify in their ignorance of handball or offside. To the point where Ian Wright can say on MotD “I don’t care what the rules say, that’s offside for me” and people nod as if he’s said something wise not something mad.
