Nothing like that, Maguire does not get in his club side, where as Bairstow if played for Yorkshire would clearly be one of their best players.

Just 3 games into the summer as well.

There is no doubt he has kept very poorly and that could be possibly down to fitness.

But extremely short memories, last test series he played he was arguably the best player and scored a really good 78 of 78 balls first game in.

Yet just two and half games into this summer he is getting slaughtered.

I said at the start of the series Foakes should keep and Bairstow should bat 5 and still think that.

But the criticism he is getting is way out of perspective imo.

It’s probably because agreeably his keeping has been horrendous tbh

I'm on board with this mind. Wouldn't suit him in the past when the job was to see off the new ball, but under the new regime he's as good an option as any at the minute.

Would Dan Lawrence score any more than Ali? I doubt it.

Personally think Root should bat 3, but if they not going to do that agree Ali best other option taking all options into account
 
My mates asking me to go down for a day over the weekend as there’s still tickets there supposedly but the weather isn’t looking fantastic mind

Is it not you that is over reacting to comments that are clearly o.t.t. to provoke the reaction to which you invariably fall for. To some extent the criticism of Bairstow is justifiable. He clearly wasn't anything near his normal form and fitness of which he,more than anyone, would have been fully aware. He surely would have been asked about his fitness and readiness and the fact is he lied about it. Is not strong criticism of him therefore justified? He has history on this issue.Last time he was dropped he created a big furore rather than accepting it gracefully and adopting the attitude "Don't get bitter get better"
TUB is,I'm afraid, selfish and a bit of a cry baby.

I think it’s more than natural to want to do everything you can to play for your country especially in the ashes, difficult to know the full extent of his injury to judge that point.

I do get your point that in the past when dropped he has come across bit of a cry baby especially on one occasion so agree with that point.

If people are making as you say ott comments to provoke a reaction don’t really get that as prefer actual debate about the cricket and the side.

Too old to worry about wind ups and falling for stuff.

I think like I said short memories, kept terribly but his batting more than gets his place in thr side ino

You're saying that's what the England team go off when assessing players fitness? The players say so? Not the strength and condition tests they do, not the training drills, not the data from the training vests?

Bairstow is clearly not recovered and his head seems elsewhere. He's been poor this series but instrumental in wider Bazball so I get why they've kept faith with him.

Rest of selection makes sense. Anderson at OT, quite possibly his last Ashes test, I get it, and Robinson not followed up on his outburst where it counts so obvious replacement, rest of the attack have been good. Rest are obviously a winning team, so it's a no brainer. Glad Harry not at 3 anymore.

Aussie's have the bigger dilemma i think in terms of selection

As usual,you're missing the point. The issue isn't whether he's good enough to bat or keep for his country.It's whether he has recuperated fully to be confident that he can perform to his previous standards. He clearly hasn't and, furthermore he'd be fully aware of that.
As to worrying about wind ups you clearly do react to them but that's entirely up to you.

Like I said I think it’s pretty sad if there is people on the cricket board are on wind ups.

Personally I prefer just to have a sensible grown up debate.

So when people do say ott comments normally pick them up as prefer to look at bigger pictures and perspectives than overreactions to a couple of games

As for your other point mate, it’s a difficult one, like I say it’s very natural to do everything you can to play in the ashes, and if and it’s a if we don’t know he has when not a 100% sure whether he was fully fit or not still declared himself fit because he is passionate playing for his country that’s understandable imo.

Tbf it’s difficult to prove your or my point as we don’t know the full extent of his injury or the questions he has been asked and we probably never will, so it’s difficult for you or I to be proved right or not on this one?
And as the other poster picked you up on, it’s more than fair to say England have their own fitness experts and relevant tests so be unfair imo to put all the blame on him
