He isn’t as fast as he was, but unless there is variable bounce it’s the slipper’s job to position himself for the carry as it is not the bowlers job to bowl to the slip’s position.

Slip fielders, especially first slip, normally take up their position based on where the keeper is standing as he/she is in the best position to judge the 'carry'.
