It’s probable he will play again, but it’s far from certain

1) India and Sri Lanka could well be cancelled
2) it’s not inconceivable that he suffers an injury at the start of next summer and that keeps him out (as it did last year), these things happen as the body gets older

At that point, he will be approaching 40 (?)

I still think he gets there, and he’s still utterly class, but it’s possible.
He will definitely get there, even if they wheel him out for a farewell test v Ireland or Afghanistan when he's 42

Better news

Thought that, but worried it might just be to announce the abandonment.

BBC have been f***ing useless with updates mind. Preferring to talk about nonsensical things on their ticker instead of the important things like whether or not it’s clearing up.......
So what, there is far more cricket played down here than at CLS. I've been here 35 years and the weather is far, far better than the NE. FACT.

Can you provide the evidence to backup your claim that there’s been more cricket at Southampton than CLS?

One thing I do know as FACT - we’ve got 18 minutes more daylight than you today, which is quite important for ‘bad light’ isn’t it.

3 or 4 degrees on average is neither here nor there in cricketing parlance.
______

They must have an account on here :o

From the BBC ticker:

It's actually been a pretty remarkable turnaround. If you'd said 45 minutes ago that the groundstaff would be able to get out there, let alone schedule an inspection, I'd have been asking questions of your sanity. Yet, here we are, with a genuine prospect of play at some point later on. Players and staff have emerged from the hotel, and the fourth umpire is wandering around with a holstered umbrella. The caveat is that it's very wet underfoot and the time spent mopping up is an opportunity for more rain to arrive. The forecast is clear, though...

Exactly the same as your place.

Further inspection at 3, I wish they’d just f***ing get on with it.
The match is abandoned at CLS as drawn, not there yet here. I also see Durham had drawn 2 out of 7 home games last season due to the time lost to the weather at CLS too. ;) One of those games was in June.
