36.566 Leeds average

no that was the inter City fairs cup it changed to the fairs cup and access was gained through league position and was then renamed eufa cup so you are totally wrong
Source: Wikipedia

The 1969 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup Final was the final of the eleventh .

While the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup is generally considered to be the predecessor to the UEFA Cup, it was not organised by UEFA. Consequently, the confederation does not consider clubs' records in the Fairs Cup to be part of their and regards its prestige as lesser than the UEFA Cup.[]

There is no documentary evidence to support the claim that FIFA views the competition as a major honour, other than in articles submitted by clubs for inclusion in a series of club profiles, which was removed from the FIFA website in 2015.

Yet again a thread on how “big” you are .
Why the need to convince yourselves of it all the time ?
Your gates speak for themselves .
Best football forum without a doubt, great supporters, brilliant stadium in a lovely part of the world.
You are what you are , why be obsessed with being “bigger” than X or Y? Going on about it has the opposite effect .

Attendances man. Aye our fans are class, brilliant, but why do we need to keep banging on about it so f***ing much.

The mags (correctly) get absolutely f***ing slated, for going on about attendances, yet it’s becoming very prominent on here and “nah it’s not the same thing”.

It’s alrite if we don’t go up, we’ll win the attendance cup. That’s exactly what we’d say to them.

Leeds if pushing for promotion will match their crowds of last season. They have a waiting list for season tickets. If Leeds games the capacity they would average 50000 in the Premier League.

I’ve lived in and around Leeds for 30+ years .
They would get 45-50k regularly if they were around the Top 6 or riding a wave after promotion but having had my club in the same league as them for most of the last 30 years whether it be PL , Championship and even League One , they’re gates are dependent on how they’re doing and have been very similar to ours over that time taking their slightly larger capacity into consideration.
They have a hardcore and a good amount from around the UK who attend regularly and after that just thousands and thousands of part time/fair weather “fans” who like to wear the shirt on holiday and round the town.

By the way , we have a waiting list for season tickets aswell

I don't get this how Sunderland are bigger than the relegated teams we've won one trophy in 87 years played 4 games in Europe in our history leeds for example have won just as much as us and have appeared in 6 major European finals winning 2 of them our successful period came in victorian times leeds have been by far the bigger and more successful club since the 70s
Inter Cities Fairs Cup has never been counted as a major trophy, so Leeds have never won a major European trophy, never mind two.

They've won them in more recent times though.

5 of ours were before WW1 and three before the Boer War.
So the question remains what does make a big club . Is it trophies, is it crowds, history or does it just boil down to timing .
Leeds golden era was when the colour TV era landed, Chelsea’s just as the PL boom and social media became a thing. You could point at every club who claim to be a big club and identify something that ‘makes’ them a big club. Leeds imo are a big club but their trophy haul is very poor for such a club , same could be said for spurs . For me we have two superpower huge clubs in this country, a number of recently successful ‘big’ clubs and another set of ‘big’ clubs due to their history

its been the PREMIER LEAGUE since 2007.

People, PLEASE stop saying the Premiership, makes you look dim.

PL is a great alteranitive.

Premier Leauge - England
Premiership - Scotland
Whatever it is called it is just the old first division under a different name

The age old problem of confusing size and success. Are Leeds more successful than Sunderland ? Yes. The truth is however that Sunderland are a bigger club than most of the premier league.
No we are not.

Crowds account for approx only 8% of revenue.

TV rights, league payouts and sponsorship account for the majority of the rest.

Any team in the Premier League gets a massive wedge every season. Hence bigger than us.

In the premiership last season this was Leeds average gate, so you'd imagine that in the Championship it might be lower. Southampton and Leicester were lower. IWe've already outdone these numbers with our season tickets/cards, so are we all confident around having the best gates in the Championship?
I don't know why people bang on about this..our support is world class and we all know it, and wear it with a badge of pride everywhere we go .
I personally don't need the affirmation of knowing my crowds bigger than yours to have pride in our fan base and fervor of support .

We need to move on from this child like thinking as true success and valid bragging rights comes with winning stuff on the pitch consistently and having a place setting at the premiership top table......Sadly we have a very long way to go but i have hope! as i feel we have for once a true destination in mind and the bus were on aint to shabby but most of all I think the driver has mapped out the route and has enough fuel in the tank to deal with any detours or road closures along the way .

Leeds would have sold 50,000 plus in the prem if the ground was big enough. Every game was soldout at home weeks before the match.
To be fair we are bigger than all of the relegated teams so I would expect us to have bigger crowds. Leeds home crowds are shit for such a large city with the exception of a few years in the Premier League
Leeds are the biggest club in the championship by far. End of conversation.

Personally, I'd prefer points .
We know we have a great fan base, points are what matters at the end of the proverbial day.

Leeds Dwarf every city and town in the Championship, but as a club I think Sunderland are up there with you.
