2 derby defeats

And a 17th place finish .
Would u take that ?
100 percent i would we've got to stay in it somehow for all the riches it brings
Aye 15 year ago I’d have probably said no but the league is another level these days no poor teams plus I’ve seen us wallop the skunks loads and I’m only early 30s. Like someone has said in a previous post the club we once classed as our rivals are long gone hate them as much but it isn’t the same club

Compares to 2 derby wins and relegation?
Of course.
All this tripe about Newcastle are not Newcastle is just pathetic. Of course they are and it’s the first game we will all look for when the fixtures come out.

Can we beat them, of course we can. Will we stay up, of course we will.
Good positivity I'm worried like we all are about doing an Ipswich Leicester etc. But at some point surely a promoted team has to do something.

Let’s cut through the bull here.

It’s our biggest game of the season. The atmosphere is always amazing and both sets of fans will create noise like the players and boss have never heard before.

2 - 0 to the lads in Red and White.
This^^^ a million times.
You'd think football support is simple: Sing your heart out for the lads! Especially on derby day.
Some likes to pretend it's a 50's melodrama titled: "The Moral Heights". Take it to your grandma and watch it together!

I think for us it has definitely lost its edge - its not a fair fight but the Mags don't see it that way at all - they still want it to be hurting us as it would once have done, but the gulf is huge and as others have said, it's now just a free hit to see what we can get out of it.

I'm much more excited for the club being in the PL to see how we can build into our next phase - can we get some quality players through the door and stay up - I'd love that 10x more than beating the Saudi State Football Team.

I would take two derby wins and rock bottom with 6 points to be honest , the mags would never get over that and we could laud it over them forever.

It's not the same though now.

Even when they spent fortunes in the 90s the gap wasn't that big. The gap is the biggest it's ever been and they are in the top 5.
People saying 'it's not the same anymore' yet the home game will sell out and there will be a clamour for away tickets. We have nothing to fear when we play them because the expectations will be that they beat us. They can hardly crow if they do after all of their 'little old Sunderland' crack in recent years. Bring the fuckers on.

Because it's a novelty. If they beat us regularly over next 5 seasons that will soon evaporate

You can't take the mags seriously any more, they're not a proper club in my eyes. The whole takeover is wrong and has been swept under the carpet and overlooked. It makes a total mockery of the rules. They've got what they wanted, but in the long run, you just know it won't end well.

I will be as nervous going into the next derby as I have been over the years.

I don't believe anyone who says they're not arsed about the derby. As if beating them wouldn't be all the more sweeter now.
Aye but derby day used to be nerve wracking. Anything could happen. Now theyre full of plastics and if we lose, it to saudi blood money. It doesnt hit the same as losing to the proper mags
