100 ball cricket!!!!

I like Baseball, it has a lot of similarities to cricket and has a history going back longer than our own football league. Its much maligned in this country but is actually a very good sport. They have not decided they need a 3 innings version or a 100 pitch version. Their game is fine as it is and they leave it alone. The ECB could actually learn a hell of a lot from MLB.

These days I watch more baseball than cricket.

Very true. And this year (when they started to receive criticism that the games were become too long) they brought in rules to stop the players and coaches f***ing about and wasting time, but left the mechanics of the game alone.

Restrictions on field placings, restrictions on bowlers overs, stricter definition of wide ball, power plays, shorter boundaries in general, knowing you're restricted to 50 overs so you can bat with less caution especially late in the innings. In tests you bat to occupy the crease, against defensive fields and bowling and so on.
Defensive fields in test cricket but not ODI? How about playing five seamers to pitch it up on a green wicket with 5 slips and 2 gullies. No restrictions to worry about, let's see 400 scored then. If a team could score 400 in 50 overs in test cricket why wouldn't they?

I bet the ticket prices remain the same even though you are getting 17% less cricket for your money. I won’t be going. It is another nail in the coffin of cricket from those trucking punts in the FTECB. Wankers.

The thing is, lotsof people saying they want cricket on BBC or whatever, well this is the time frame it has to be on

If people don't want it, that is fine, but then don't knock the ECB for selling just to Sky

two words - highlights package.

Another absolutely brilliant article from George Dobell.

FTECB are killing cricket, all in the quest of lining their own pockets and fuck everyone else.

Oh and apparently it was a f***ing woman who came up with the idea of a 10 ball over and suggested it be used as a 'wildcard'.

Why don't we just call it f***ing baseball?

definitely worth making a big deal of this, as we all know the men at the FTECB always make great decisions

I gave you several reasons why they can't. I'm not sure what your point is here. If a test batsman looks like scoring quickly the fielders go back on the boundary and the bowling goes leg side or over the head four times an over. You can't do that in the short game because of the fielding circle, stricter wide law and power plays. Plus the test batsman knows he can bat two days if he builds a careful innings, so won't throw the bat as in overs 45-50 of an odi. Before all these rules came in, West Indies scored 290 in a 60 over world cup final against England and it was considered a very difficult target. Off 60 overs! Come on, this is basic stuff.

Sensible. So you think this 100 ball thing is a sensible idea do you?
As I said above I can't see the point of having two T20 competitions and this running together, or 5 weeks of nothing else. However your hysteria and depressingly predictable misogyny is pathetic.

Predictable misogyny? Do you want us to pretend it wasn't a woman that suggested the ten ball over?

Cause that would be lying wouldn't it?!

You obviously don't bother to hide anything. The point is, it's completely irrelevant. Do you mention gender in relation to all the other decisions you think are stupid, taken by men? No you don't.

Will it by some miraculous happening that the 8 grounds used will be the 8 with the franchise T20?

Imo it would appear the FTECB are actively seeking to reduce cricket in this country to these eight grounds and the rest can wither away

What makes it all stink that the main instigators of this, are the chairmen at those eight grounds, who want all the money and players going.

It's a scandal

You really don't get it. You think showing yourself to be that pig ignorant is worth "finding it hilarious"? What's the matter with you? A normal person would be a bit more self aware and be ashamed.

I don't really take things said on Internet forums all that seriously, obviously you do - that's up to you.

Have I misunderstood. I thought that some of the new comp T20 will be sho9wn on BBC free-to-air. For those games the BBC wants a shorter play time to fit in with their shedules, so those games will be 100-ballers, the rest will be standard T20's. (I agree that sounds stupid so it can't be right. OTOH, it sounds stupid so maybe that's nailed on)

Well as I said, it's one thing actually being that ignorant - and I think you are, but another to deliberately make yourself look that ignorant for a laugh, as you now bizarrely appear to be claiming. Still, up to you.

All being held at the eight chosen grounds

The rest of the country don't count, in this brave new era

This new audience will have to make do with BBC coverage. Now aren't we supposed to be encouraging youngsters to play sport and not stay in houses watching TV or playing computer games?

All those potential new cricket fans, will have to travel if they want to see this.

No doubt these franchises will be tapping the hell out of the players, they will pluck from the likes of Durham and others deemed unworthy.

There are a few on here who go massively over the top with the feminism - I enjoy baiting them.
