€13m Sunderland bid for Sow rejected

The problem with dealing with Turkish clubs is that they really don't have to sell the player, meaning when a club like us comes along they can afford to take the piss a bit.

We might sign a player who's played and performed in the PL and it might not work out for him here too. Every signing is a risk. I know nothing about this Sow fella, but if he's the one that's been identified by Dick as the one he wants then I'm happy to trust his judgement. Not fancying him because he plays in Turkey and is 29 is daft IMO. There's a whole wide world of players out there. Just because they haven't played in the PL doesn't mean they couldn't. And at 29, it wouldn't be an impossibility to get at least three good seasons from him. That would be an improvement on every striker we've had since our return to the PL.

It's all about whether the scouts have assessed his attributes and whether they are suited to the premiership - pace, strength, how much time he needs on the ball, technique
