It's all relative, I don't recall Haurtiz making any meaning contributions to the state of the game with the bat, and a few not outs will boost his average considerably from just 17 tests. I'd pick Giles for all 3 disciplines over him no problem at all. His record probably does not do justice to how much of a fine player he was, he suffered immense public criticism at one point and responded in the next 12 months with probably his best year of international cricket, finishing with an Ashes win. Very important member of a good team.

limited ability, over rated at the time and still over rated, got away with limited abaility by having 4 good bowlers in the side. When these 4 quicks had lost form or were injured he got found out in Adelaide in 2007 and never played again

haway then all.

who wins this?

i am backing england as i think this is a 170 plus pitch and their fast bowlers could fly off the bat

Holy moly mother of Jebus, the world is at an end.

I agree with Essex Boy.

:-D

He never played again due to a chronic hip injury, which incidentally had kept him out for the best part of year prior to the test you mention.

He was limited, but you can't ignore his contribution.

i think a return of 50 ish off the first 6, should set us up nicely for the win.

will probably go to the last over though

contributed, but hardly a key member of the side, with the likes of Harmison, Thrope and Flintoff in tow

he got dropped for Perth when we were 2-0 down

bell dropped first ball, then 2 classic fours to follow

tait over 90 mph and the ball is flying

12 for 0 off 5 balls

haawaaaaaaaaay

He did yes, but he never looked fully fit in thoese 2 tests, then he flew home by the 4th test IIRC as his wife was ill, and retired a few months later having never played again.

He was no star attraction like Flintoff, Vaughan or Harmison, but he was a vital cog to the team. The 4 man pace attack needed him to be on his game to hold up an end while they bowled flat out.

16 for 1 off 1.2

davies smacked a lovely 4 then smacked another off lee straight to white

the ball is flying fast here.

pietersen arrives to booing :lol::lol:

he was a cog but was exactly a world beater, right player at the right time, wont be remembered in 30 years time

genuine high class quick bowling, mostly lacking in all the test match sides these days. shame

Davies has a tendancy to do that, not really follow through with an aerial shot. Still think he has great potential though.

Wouldn't be so sure, John Emburey's name still gets a mention in some quarters

another front foot drive, aerial, through the covers by pietersen for 4

20 for 1 off 1.4

only scoring 4s so far

bell dropped again, this time by ex durham warner.

i think the aussies will come to regret those

25 for 1 off 2.3

bell looking class personified

bell slices tait over third man for 6. a deliberate shot imo

33 for 1 off 3

well it's nice to see the australian public have decided it's safe to turn up to watch a cricket match again....
the way its going they maybe on the way home after 15 overs

38 for 1

120 off 100 balls needed

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

classic bit of fielding there. okeefe who dropped bell first ball, now dives over one and it goes for 4

44 for 1 off 3.4

Think this early showing by Ian Bell will enable the selectors to see that he is capable of playing one day games. As I've said for years.

get in mitchell johnson is now on

he bowls to the left, he bowls to the rigggggghtttt

mitchell johnson, his bowling is................................

depending on what happens ;)
