James Anderson Watch in Australia

so despite telling everyone Anderson would be smacked around the park and couldn't lead the England attack, he goes at 26.88 runs a wicket and has been the most consistent bowler and you still can't admit you're wrong.

well done Jimmy even despite being the unluckiest bowler of the series he has been superb

I havent been wrong. When was the last time England played in Australia and opted to bowl twice, both times being the correct decision.

The reason you bowl in Australia or in any country is that you think your gonna bowl the oppo out cheap in helpful conditions. You wouldnt bowl first on a flat deck in blue skies when you were gonna get panned for 500.

Thus far Jimmy has bowled well in helpful conditions (and once in Adelaiade in unhelpful conditions). As I have said, when he does it consistently on unhelpful pitches and doesnt go missing when you really need him, Il hold my hands up and admit I was wrong.

Melbourne represented Derbyshire in April, seam bowlers paradise

Fair play to Tremlett hes been great in both games. Miles better than Broad was before him thats for sure.

Swann is doing fine - as you yourself have mentioned the wickets have had nothing in them for Swann but in the one opportunity he has had with a bit of assistance he won a test match for England. Was 3rd top wicket taker coming into this match and has his best opportuities to come. Wheres the problem?

Tremlett's wickets don't count unless he is bowling 90+ mph.

but you're wrong. Bloody hell I bet you don't keep your lasses for long;)

Don't thank me, thank Jimmy for getting the wickets. Surely that's what we all wanted, no? England to do well?

I don't think anyone disputes that Jimmy is one of, if not the best in the world (over the past couple of years) when the ball is swinging. You seem to think that warrants crciticism rather than praise. Very bizarre.

As I have previously commented, I have been left dissapointed by the overall quality of the cricket.

Im not wrong. Jimmy can take wickets on damp green tops like the MCG, ive never said different.

almost a year now with my current bird, although I need her to do teas for me next year at my cricket club on a Saturday....this could be a turning point I feel

gets bounce which is why I suggested Saj.

As I previously said, NOBODY was clamerouring for Tremlett in the summer just gone

Broad has bowled the best spell in the last 18 months for England and you are also not in a position to pass judgement on his performances in the first two tests as he may have been carrying his injury before he pulled out the tour. What the press/tour team tell you and the reality of the situation is....

The wickets havent been spin friendly, as I previously said just amazed at your contradiction.

CAN ANYONE PUT THEIR HAND UP AND CONFIRM THEY PICKED JIMMY ANDERSON AS TOUR WICKET TAKER IN THE PREDICTIONS THREAD?

(Seen as I know nothing, Im sure a few must have backed him considering his god like status on here)

Swann is 4 or 5 wickets off the top wicket takers in this series despite bowling on completely unhelpful wickets. He will bowl a helluva lot of overs in the second innings now the pitch is flat and will then bowl at a really good venue for him at Sydney. Despite pitches not suiting Swann he will either end up top wicket taker or be pretty damn close because he is a class act - theres no contradiction.

Who did you predict btw?

Broad - cant do much about it if he gets injured. Didnt bowl on the two green tops at Perth and MCG

Another bold prediction. FFS there is only him and Jimmy who have played every game, so I would suggest there is every chance of him being pretty damn close

Even if Broad and Finn had played every game Swann would have been up there in the leading wicket takers. Probably not right up there at the top but with the amount of bowling he was predicted to do it's only natural to suggest he'll take wickets.

He is 5th in the world

Green top, pissed down, Jimmy takes wickets, its what he does, not sure why there is a wank fest on here today

Not sure about a wankfest, but I think there is a wanker on here today. ;)

Come on EB, even if the conditions did favour Jimmy today he still has to bowl well to exploit them, something he has done consistently all tour (excluding Perth). It would be nice if you could admit that now and again.

I will admit he has bowled well. However, I will not admit I am wrong until he is regularly bowlng well on unhelpful tracks. I have called him a one trick pony before and stand by that. I have seen nothing (apart from the 2nd test) to suggest he is anything but a good bowler on green tops against fraudsters, clubbies or crocks

okay then, how many bowlers do you know who consistently rip through batting line ups on completely dead tracks?

its not about ripping through batting line ups on flat tracks, its about thinking outside the box and adapting

Broad bowls very well on flat wickets

broad does indeed.

i would argue that anderson has been much more economical than in the past when conditions are not helping. im sure even you would admit that?

anyway, if anderson did as broad does, which is keep it tight, but not taking many wickets youd be churning out your usual 'wickets win matches'. (in fact you did that not so long ago when jimmy bowled possibly the best spell of this ashes series, without getting a wicket).

In the last 10 or so test matches we have played against clubbies, fraudsters and now against crocks on green tops, I cannot comment on his improvement as he hasnt played against the best sides.

If Bangladesh and Pakistan dont have a single batsman in the worlds top 20, what does Jimmy tell you by ripping through them all summer.....

got all ya angles covered there :oops:

look, you expected anderson to go to all corners. however, even when not taking wickets he has kept it very tight throughout. its a fact you cant deal with, so you'll either say its a green top (when wickets fall) and you didnt realise how poor the aussies were (when he keeps it tight).

so, his performances dont count in england, cos conditions suit, and they dont count against australia, pakistan and bangladesh cos they are shite and fraudsters. ffs lad.

my issue with Jimmy has and has always been performing consistently against the worlds best in unhelpful conditions

interesting in SA against the side ranked two in the world we were outplayed for 3 tests out of 4 - a better reflection of where our bowlers stand in the world game

Harmison, Gough, Fred etc must be gutted at not being able to bowl in this current series

Anderson is now the leading wicket taker in the series, not bad at all considering he has been carrying an injury. Makes you proud to be English that lad :-D

And do you not think I picked Swann knowing he was a sure fire selection to play every game
So the guy you selected played two tests taking a couple of wickets, one of the tests at Adelaide where Jimmy and my selection Swann won the game and you are having a go at my choice who still has a chance of taking most wickets in the series. You dont narf pick your arguments ;)

We did well in SA.

he is, which is why its staggering that amongst all these Jimmy worshipers, not one picked him as leading wicket taker.

As I said, you cant comment on Broad, because he could have been quite easily carrying the injury b4 it came out
