Its not a Brisbane wicket in terms of pace but its certainly flat. Jimmy hasnt got his figures with the ball seaming around - he got then by bowling tightly, building pressure and cutting out the 4 balls he used to dish up too often in the past - hes an improved bowler.

In terms of me admitting i'm wrong I do often enough. The nature of the sport is that you are bound to be proved wrong on occasion because players have it in their power to improve. With Bell I have been more than happy to be proved wrong and said so many times. I would have got rid of him because he had proven over a long enough period of time to be mentally deficient. The selectors and Essex Boy were bang on.

I'll always stand by the Prior argument. In WI it was the worst display of keeping I have ever seen and i think he may have broken the world record on byes conceded - he was a shambles. I said if Prior didnt improve his keeping he would have to go no matter how decent his batting was. Prior to his credit did exactly that.

With regards to Anderson you have been humiliated you put all your cards in one basket about his first morning at Brisbane and he came up with the goods.

:bites lip REALLY hard:

seam movement from Siddle

ffs aye its been doing a little bit on the odd occasion but hardly anything t justify your comments that its swinging and seaming all ower the shop. it has been far from 'helpful conditions'.

I'm sure it does say something on the link or you wouldnt have posted it. I can't find it though - these sleepless nights catching up on me.

i read through it 5 times looking for something glaringly obvious to prove me wrong, and then find out it mentions seam movement for a wicket

i watched it man

the difference appears to be when it swings on occasions i see it as just that. whereas you see the word swing and then instantly imply it was like a boomerang!

i never said it was swinging all over the place. I said unlike in preious tests at Brisbane, there is swing and seam movement available for Jimmy to exploit. The wicket is not a flat road with no assistance to bowlers

very poor SC

im more interested to know what happened to chunky lover

good point. also carl and the passions, used to be a regular on here and write articles about cricket for a durham paper iirc.

still read carl and the passions on twitter though.

anyway back to the thread

need to have them out by lunch and we will be right back into the game

as he usually is when there is rain about

Anderson has improved quite a lot under the new bowling coach IMO. The difference between Anderson now and 18 months ago is that he doesnt bowl anywhere near as many 4 balls when conditions aren't great. In the past hes been guilty of trying to bowl the magic ball all of the time and dropping far too many short. At the end of the day hes had an entire career home and abroad in all conditions with a bowling average of 31 which by modern day terms is pretty good. Of course hes far betetr when his conditions suit just as other bowlers have better statistics when conditions suit thir styles.
