There is a niche in the market then, for someone. It would be a good read; we know it’s been going on for years, particularly the 1980’s…..

theres been a few attempts to write a sunderland book but the fact is alot of lads dont want to go public for various reasons such as still being active. unless one of the main lads writes a book then it wont happen. outsiders asking for interviews/stories is just daft.
ive met danny dyer a couple of times and asked about football factories and it was him who said sunderland wouldnt talk

right, who was on this coach then?

anyone know the sunderland lad who got stabbed at birmingham 7 times? he ended up in a wheelchair iirc? cowardly bastards those blue nose fuckers.

I was on that bus.

Absolute f***ing shite as well that article..... we left the Terminus early doors on the morning and headed to Derby. About 30 mins away from Derby we were pulled over and told we were to be taken to a boozer in derby where we would be watched. Once we got to the boozer we were then told they had information that there was an organised meet. We were then taken to the local nick, videoed, took in the cells and processed. We all had our mobiles in the cells etc so were getting updates of the score.

We won 5-0, was absolutely devasted to miss the game SKP got a hatrick.

We were escorted from Derby all the way back to Sunderland, everytime we pulled into a different area there was different coppers waiting for us. We wernt allowed to stop so we had no food or drink all day.

Once we got back to sunderland there was cars/vans/bikes etc waiting for us.

Once the bus got to the Wheasheaf it stopped at the lights near the hairdresses, the back door was opended and about 15 of us got of and ran. Was no need really as the bus was taken to the main bus stop near wheatsheaf and everyone else was allowed off....... only a few year ago they did the same thing to Stoke fans at Man Utd and the stoke fans took them to court and were awarded a few grand each with thanks to the FSF. This tactic is now outlawed and rightly so

My limited experience of Sunderland lads gives me the opinion that the numbers are definately there when required but organisation isn't worried about too much (i personally see this as better as you enjoy the day more when you take it as it comes).

Two perfect examples of this were, the 1-4 Newcastle match and the Millwall semi. The Newcastle match seen a good turnout in the Free Gardeners but once the bizzies turned up the group was broken up and never got chance to get it back together. The Millwall match seen loads packed into a pub on a backstreet not far from Picadilly, from early doors. Then some idiot left the door open and the bizzies suddenly arrived (which was a bit suss). Escort to the tram then left to walk past loads of Millwall outside The Trafford and the chippy at the lights. The numbers had dropped off at this point and we were followed down to the forecourt where about 25 had a brief scurmish with larger numbers of them. After the match we were rounded up by the cricket ground and abused by bell end cockneys in Limos. Scruffy bell ends of the highest order.

Love coming up to Sunderland though and know some sound lads, one even came to my wedding. Always made to feel welcome by everyone.

Think I know you! Who was it that come to your wedding AT??

Being from Hartlepool we had to experience trouble just getting home that others didn't.
Obviously the main source of trouble is/was Boro but over the years we've had loads of run ins on the old train south.
The one that sticks out for me was in the 70's or 80's when we played Man United at home and N****e were also at home to who the hell do I know.
We ended up with Sunderland, Newcastle and Man United on the train. There was a lot of tension in the carriages as some Man United were walking throught them asking folk who they supported.
As the train approached Hartleppol station we got up to get off as usual but the train was held up ata signal about 400 yds short of the station.
There was a roar from the the front of the train,( we were at the back) about 25 of us regular Sunderland ) and we could see hell on.
This hell kept coming nearer and nearer and ended up in our carriage( we were the last one)
It was Man United fighting Mags.
The Mags were from Hartlepool ( I knew some of em) and the reds were from anywhere but Hartlepool.
What to do ?
Help the Mags or just get off when the train hit the platform ?
We joined in and we were outnumbered I would think 4 to 1.
The train did pull in to Hartepool platform and a lot of the fighting carried on on the platform and outside the station and the Police didn't arrive for a good 5 minutes.
There was bedlum in the station between Hartlepool and United and it was only after the Police arrived and moved everyone on that we remembered we w ere Sunderland and they were Mags.
I could name names here but won't. The leader of the Mags who I will name so you know this is true, wasT Mc and he asked us to go for a drink with them outside the station.....we declined the offer and went for a drink together round the corner..
It was one of those times when you had to make a snap decision what to do.
You had to be there to see it really, over 150 lads fighting on a station platform and no one backing down.

Typical Man Utd, interfering in our rivalries

The only time I really 'helped out' any Mags was at Wrexham when we went to see Blyth Spartans in the FA Cup ..... Blyth, who were actually their own fans, Mags, Sunderland and a few others, had filled their end and for some reason Wrexham were up their own arse that day.

There was quite a lot of bad feeling and a stand-off developed in the car park of a big old pub in the town. Wrexham had more there but the Blyth fans weren't shy ........ we were standing with some Mags and helped out when the inevitable charge came from Wrexham.

The police arrived and we just all nodded and went our seperate ways.
