Get a mention in "Scally" by Andy Nichols. He was one of Everton's top hooligans and says he rated Sunderland better than Newcastle any day. He also mentioned that in the 70s and 80s Roker Park was apparently a nightmare ground to go to. Never heard of Roker being that bad really.

There was something happening at the pub near the station, the great big one but not sure what.

We were all over Edinburgh from the word go didn't try to hide the fact we were there and the CCS must have known, they didn't show.

they got cornered in a pub near the station like. we got there just after the police had calmed it down, lads with blood all over them.
hundreds of sunderland walking about all day looking for them

I remember coming away from Roker after a game against Everton, it will have been in the 90's and there was a massive street fight near The Cambridge.
Both sides were getting stuck in.
That was obviously arranged.

Is the right answer

there was also a fight outside the ground during the game, some hibs had been signalling for some of ours to go out and fight so a load of young sunderland lads obliged and wiped the floor with them

Sorry my mistake, how were the Seaburn lads contacted and who by? If I'm asking too many questions tell me to Fuck Off.

Some reporter who bought their drinks and I didn't get any free drinks cos I'd lost me phone. Don't know if those lads were hooligans or not but they got free beer and I f***ing didn't.

dont think it was 73 the cup match there was,nt that many there i recall we were in there end but it was'nt upto much 75ish we had the whole ground and if im right monty saved a pen and we carried him off the pitch against his wishes he was saying lads no we said fuck off and shut up .....as we invaded the pitch from both ends ...

man utd book says they hated going to roker park and got done more than once there in the 70's, called it 'an evil place to go to'.

theyve been done a few times at the SOL aswell. they seem a bit unlucky in sunderland

Can you elaborate on them being "done" at the SOL? Does this thing really go on? I've been to every Man Utd game at the SOL and wouldn't constitute a few daft charvers shouting "who are ya" at them from behind the safety of a line of horses, as them being "done".
Admittedly my route home doesn't take me directly outside of the away end (i go down the east stand, to stokoes statue and along sheepfolds) so maybe if i was to get a little bit closer i would see them getting "done".
Or does this violence go on elsewhere?
