My daft one is quite topical since there is a piece about him on the BBC at the moment, but for some bizarre reason I got it into my head that Roly Gregoire was going to be our greatest acquisition/success of my lifetime, until I saw him miss that absolute sitter v Blackburn?? from the Fulwell end. That was the end of that...
 
My pal said to me at the match a few years ago that Abdoullah Ba was one of the brightest talents we had and thought he'd go far in the game.
 
West Brom signed a clearly over the hill Mike Phelan when he left Man U. As was entirely predictable, his legs were too far gone to play CM.

I was telling anyone and everyone that he should play as a sweeper, where his lack of pace would be covered by his reading of the game.

The manager at the time (can't remember who) obviously agreed with my brilliant tactical nouse and indeed played Phelan as a sweeper....

3-0 down after 20mins. :oops:
