England World Cup squad news

I don’t think he’s made a toy of himself tbh, Tuchel has a contract till 28 so if he isn’t picked now he won’t be picked again so I’d rather he speak his mind than go I just want the best for England and hope we win. People would then just say that’s bs tell us what you really think.

Picking somebody because they are happy to be in the bench or not even in the squad shouldn’t be a thing tbh, hire some clowns and magicians if you want to get a good vibe in the camp if want players disappoint muted they aren’t picked not happy.

I honestly don’t get the burn, Toney and Henderson selections, all the rest can be explained but those 3 people are scraping the barrel for excuses. I hope Tuchel wins us the World Cup and it’s from a burn cross and Toney smashes it in but from my sofa I can’t understand those 3, much better options.

Do any other countries take players who are not as good as ones in form just because they are left or right footed though? Like if Burn was injured would Tuchel pick a championship player just because he was left footed? To me it’s a bottom of the barrel excuse to justify it as on form and skill he should be nowhere near that squad.

I’d not have Bowen or Madueke, I’d rather have Palmer. We won’t play with wingers in a 442 formation, we won’t be sticking over 15 crosses so if saka isn’t playing I’d want Palmer who can just do something magic.

Henderson is there to bring vibes, he could have done the Jill Scott role of just going but not in the squad, again I hope I’m proven wrong but I don’t see him doing anything in the World Cup especially not something Wharton could have done apart from bring the vibes.
Id have picked Palmer personally.

He's had a poor season due to injury- but if he were to find form he'd be a useful player to bring on if were chasing a goal. Direct and goalscorer- good passer from midfield.

This one baffles me a little

The biggest thing that I, and most people I've spoken to, are unhappy with is that he's been banging on for months about how he'll pick players based on form, and then he's left out a whole bunch of guys who have been in outstanding form!

Maguire, Gibbs-White, Shaw, Tomori, Wharton and Garner have all been in good form for months and all of them have been overlooked.

If you say you're going to pick on form, then leave out Maguire and Gibbs-White, respectively the most in form defender and midfielder we've got, it comes across just a tiny bit hypocritical!
Picking on league form alone is a load of crap. People were going crazy we didn’t pick Jesse Lingard in 2021. Nobody cares to fess up about it now though.

Our Thomas is building a team to compete in a specific competition. International football, as we all know, is a different beast to club football. Of one thing I am 100% sure; that Tuchel knows more about football than Maguire's mum. He is being ruthless in choosing players he believes will do him the job that needs doing. I have dreamed of Pep Guardiola being the manager with a fantastic array of talent at his disposal (Foden, Palmer, Bellingham, etc), but hard-nosed reality dictates that someone like Thomas will do a much better job. If we get to the semi-finals it will be a success, but whatever happens I am sure we will compete.
England have always suffered from taking the so-called best players and then shoe horning them into a formation. Playing Paul Scoles out wide so we could fit in Gerrard and Lampard is the best example. Tuchel picks the formation or formations and is taking the players he thinks will best for that system and also the players who he likes the attitude of. I would have taken Maguire instead of Burn and Palmer instead of Rogers. But I am also happy that there is method in what Tuchel is doing. We would all take Wharton instead of Henderson but, again there is logic to it. When it came to the crucial moments Southgate was founding wanting. I have more confidence that when playing the real top sides Tuchel is a better manager.

While taking Palmer is very understandable, I can't agree about Rogers. For me he is a starter alongside Anderson and Rice - a formidable midfield.

Thanks for the PEP talk

Rogers is a bit flash. For England he gives the ball away a lot with poor passing. We tend to only remember the flashy bits. Bellingham is the starter number 10 for me.

Didn’t concede a single goal in qualification but aye, shouldn’t be England coach
Have you seen who England played?

UEFA are altering the WC and EURO qualification procedures asap because the gaps between the big nations and the smaller ones has become so vast that no one watches nowadays.
The very very small nations are even to be put in a big group where they play amongst themselves with no possibility of qualification until they’re promoted into a big boys division as their presence is a waste of their own time nivver mind UEFAs and the big boys.

Anyone who believes Englands qualification for a finals is any indication of a job well done knows nothing about 21st century football.
