England World Cup squad news

Burn won't play unless we need a big lump to defend/attack set pieces for the last 10 mins. Henderson is obviously great around the squad and could be used to give Rice a break against shite like Panama (or whoever we're playing, can't remember). Toney will be used for pens.

Just discussion. There will always be players people disagree on
Yeah I can see the logic in taking Welbeck in that role but for it's a bit marginal so not overly fussed. I see Tuchel's logic in when we're chasing a game, Toney can cause problems for a defence and if we're clear he can ease the burden on Kane

I think things like Burn and no Maguire are much more strange

Just seen mags blaming howe for hall being left out.
If we get Europe man Howe will be to blame for everything m. Yet the daft fuxkers eat up the Saudi mob and selling off shares etc like it’s some master plan. If Ashley had done half of what the murders have been doing since they took over there wouldnt be a safe shop front In Newcastle.

I like eze a lot but you could still make an argument for MGW over him this season (yes hes been in the league winners team but 10g and 6a in 52 appearances in all competitions vs 17g and 7a in 52). I like that little bit of grit in MGW compared to all those selected

I dont think either can have complaints. Especially foden who had 40+ appearances for England and struggled to nail down a place. Palmer in comparison has barely had a chance st that with only 14 appearances
I don’t think any should be starting or anything, just if I needed I know where I’d be turning. Their attitude might be shite for all I know there’s just players in that squad who haven’t done anything either and haven’t shown moments of brilliance (or just a big fat head) that can change a game.

I don't think Toney being picked is that too bad considering he will barely get a game.

I can see him being utilised in case we have penalty shoot outs but then again, why miss Maguire out? 😂

I agree, its suprising. I just meant I could understand foden being overlooked more than Palmer. If it wasnt for him last tournament starting to get time on the field, we wouldnt have progressed to the final. You still need big game players who can handle the weight

The only baffling decision for me is no Hall, and having Burn in there over Maguire is odd.

Everything else you can probably justify.

Whilst I agree if we need somebody to lump the ball upto surely you pick maguire over Butn as he’s actually played decent, if we are resting Rice v Panama then we don’t need to be playing 2 defensive midfielders so we could just play Anderson in that role and if we are taking a player just for pens then fuck me we have too many places. 3 strikers is pointless, if Kane gets injured we don’t stand a chance of winning, taking one who’s playing in basically league 1 who you’ve never been over to watch and haven’t picked for nearly a year is weird.

I'm disappointed he's left out Foden, Palmer *and* Gibbs White, I'm disappointed there's no TAA or Bowen, but... the starting XI pretty much picks itself, aye? And... whisper it quietly, it's actually very, very good?

Pickford
James--Konsa--Guehi--O'Reilly
Rice--Anderson
Saka--Bellingham--Rashford
Kane

Add Eze, Rogers, Gordon, Watkins to the mix and there are options.

I have the same concerns beyond the initial 15ish players, but the likes of Burn will barely touch the ball this summer so not sure it's worth twisting.
I was expecting either Palmer or Foden to be dropped like. We saw it last Euro where Southgate tried shoehorning them all into the same team and it resulted in some games Foden playing left wing and Bellingham playing deeper. Not surprised to see them both dropped. But very surprised to see no MGW, I think he should be going instead of Madueke.

Semi finals or final I’d say.

2014 World Cup squad absolutely shits on this one, almost player for player. And they only got one point. Rooney had his metatarsal of course and Hodgson took him out of desperation.

I’m not sure, both squads make me feel ill to be honest.

Maguire would be better than Burn at this though, and strikes me as more composed than Burn is.

Dan Burn over Harry Maguire is just absolute lunacy - and it’s nowt to do with the fact Burn is a mag.

Burns lost a step it showed this season I dislike the filth but only filth player should be named in the squad is Hall rest like Gordon form dipped surely we could found better players a real pitty Ballard Northern Irish I think he walks into the England team.

Feel like you’re overreacting here mate, no offence. This squad is solid, two or three head scratcher exclusions but other than that it’s a team well capable of winning it

I don't mind Gordon but my concern with him and Rashford is that they are very similar. If Rashford isn't working in a certain game, I'm not sure swapping him for Gordon will make much difference

I'd rather take a direct winger (one of the aforementioned) and then a more creative type left winger (like Grealish, Foden, Palmer style player) but I don't think we have any really, apart from Grealish. Arguably Gibbs White if he can play LW

Can only be wanting a lef footed CB option. The only possible logic i can see
