Southampton spying compendium thread

Ignominious for Southampton. They now join a rogue group of cheating clubs:

1. Leeds City, 1919 (financial irregularities, blackmail - they then folded)
2. Arsenal, 1919 (authorised corruption - payments for promotion)
3. Leeds United, 1961-74 (the Don Revie years of on field cheating and thuggery and off field financial misconduct and bribery)
4. Leeds United, 2009 (spying on Derby County)

had Southampton just held their hands up and owned it, none of this would have happened. For that reason, I have very little sympathy

Hull have three days to prepare while Boro have had about a week. Advantage boro imo
The twisted irony is Boro returned to training and could focus on countering Hull, whereas Hull had to consider both and the two sides are totally different in terms of playing style and personnel. It’s always a nervous time as we know too well, for all game involved this must be excruciating

It's a right mess, saints fans have booked hotels and trains. Talk sport have said kickoff may need to move earlier on police advice. That could mess up a lot of Hull fans booked travel.

Do Hull and boro have much history? Doesn’t jump out as particularly high risk unless they are worried about the ECML?

The more they investigate, the more they will find and the more legal cases they'll have from teams within the league.

Reinstating Boro is just fixing the problem for one team. Their solution could become a problem for them if they uncover more.

Very, very unlikely. Given that results are uncertain, there's no way a court could speculate on what might have happened. It's simply impossible to quantify losses, or even whether a loss exists at all.

Left off Swindon illegal payments 1989
Plus weren’t we done for similar in the 50s

Certain team in 50s caught making illegal payments to players🤔

Surely Eckhart gets the sack now. No self respecting Southampton fan could accept him back next season knowing that this decision is the major reason they won't be in the PL next year.
