Southampton spying compendium thread

Very, very unlikely. Given that results are uncertain, there's no way a court could speculate on what might have happened. It's simply impossible to quantify losses, or even whether a loss exists at all.

But that's exactly what they've done - they expelled Southampton from the playoffs which should mean Hull are promoted, but instead they've determined that Middlesbrough lost out as a result by reinstating them.

Appeal. Tomorrow
Efl acknowledged desicion could be overturned!!
Biggest farce ever this like ....
I think it’s logistically crazy. My head is on Mars before Wembley play offs in normal circumstances. The police may want an earlier kick off so there may be something like 68 hours between a decision tomorrow and the game kicking off, it’s crazy for me.

I don't understand how the appeal will be just 1 day, given that it's to a completely different panel ... surely they'll need as long as the original to hear the evidence and judge it in order to decide if the punishment is proportionate?

Ha'way Hull

they admitted to spying on oxford of all teams and still lost. boro lost because they weren't good enough
Boro may very well have won the first leg if Southampton hadn't cheated and then extra time in the 2nd leg never happens.

This type of comment is ridiculous in all honesty. Would you prefer the EFL did fuck all and set an awful precedent? The law was brought in specifically to deal with this type of cheating. If you thick enough to try flout that law, you deserve to be kicked out.

That doesn’t really matter does it, I murdered someone but they had two days to live 😂 they still broke rules knowingly and in the hope of gaining an advantage. It’s shit for fans but they’ve cheated at the end of the day doesn’t matter if they won or not.

i'm not denying that they broke the rules just that it didn't really give them an advantage. mind boggling that they did it

Exactly doesn’t matter the result boro were the ones cheated on. I don’t think it matters they lost infact it even adds to it. It’s the right call I don’t understand how taking out their bias against boro there could be any other outcome. In reality bar not knowing who they were playing nothing has really changed for hull. I’d argue they might be happier playing boro than the inform parachute payment team.

They were the ones that were cheated no?. The play offs are a different part than the normal season. I’m not sure there could be any other out come.
The spying happened before the first game. If the punishment is retroactive and Southampton are expelled then why shouldnt Wrexham get a chance at Boro? Not saying I think they should, just that the whole thing is messy. Most fair result is to promote Hull.

Because Boro were the ones cheated, not Hull. Its not rocket science.

At least these Southampton fans got to celebrate

Tough on fans who will have made their plans for Wembley. Hotels will be thrilled. They'll be magnanimous and allow cancellations as a gesture of good will, then hike the prices for Boro fans.

Exactly this.

southampton didn't have a shot on target. boro would have won the first leg if conway could finish. just shows how stupid southampton have been
