For a start, get rid of those nonsense monitors at the side of the pitch. If the VAR sees something that the ref has missed, then the VAR overrules the on-field referee. None of this “you might want to have another look at this mate”.
The onfield referee and the VAR shouldn’t be trying to ref the game together, talking each other through decisions.
Actually use it for clear & obvious errors instead of going through everything in slow motion.
Enforce the rules they set out at the start of the season. Handball leading directly to a goal? Disallowed. Keeper holds the ball for more than 8 seconds? Corner to opposition. Grappling in the box, penalty/freekick against the first offending player. Don’t set directives at the start of the season, apply them for a few weeks, then just get bored of it.
Release the comms of all VAR interventions. No need to do it on a tele programme, just have a section on the PL website/app where they’re uploaded after every game.
The PL is the richest league in the world, pay for the best referees from around Europe to referee our games. Not some idiot from the “A-League” who wants to make himself the centre of attention in every game.
