Why Sunderland can survive in the Premier League

Absolutely superb as usual mate.

I was thinking similar about 2022/2023 and made the below thread just after promotion, so glad to see we are aligned in our thinking on that. A lot of players signed that summer are actually still key players for them today and you could see the same happening with us a few seasons down the line if we manage to survive this year.

Agree completely re: Kompany (Burnley) and Martin (Southampton) too on style of play versus us.

It'll be very tough as it's essentially 3 from 5 to go down IMO, the 3 promoted sides plus Brentford and Wolves, Everton and West Ham will have that bit too much quality and experience to get properly dragged into it for me, but we have certainly given ourselves a fighting chance.

I'm hoping the amount of teams playing in Europe may help a bit too if catching some of the stronger teams on the back of European game weeks.

I personally think its 3 out of 14 which go down. I think any team are in danger apart from the so called big 6. All other teams have quite similar quality with the odd 2 or 3 quality players

Here's my two-penneth worth on this whole cause before the season kicks off. Why the top 17 might be complacent? Why the last two seasons are not a pointer to our future and an explanation of the transfer policy Sunderland are still pursuing to try and buck the trend.

Enjoy and see you all tomorrow.

The kind of in-depth analysis that puts pundits to shame. Yesterday may be a false dawn but my heart and head say otherwise. When you look at the team, there is an athleticism and commitment there, with quality as well. There will be setbacks but we have an excellent chance.

I think we will stay up. without getting carried away there are worse teams in the Premiership, WHU and Wolves, spring to mind, the importance of yesterday is huge, the confidence and the positivity it will give players and fans.

I suppose we'll get a few whoppings from the top 4 - just watched the highlights of Wolves - City - Wolves are not a bad team!
However, yesterday confirmed what we didn't dare to verbalise - we have a potentially good Premier side.
Stay humble and roll on Burnley.

Bump (after 3 matches)

To avoid relegation, the video mentions that we need:
  • Even Goal Difference (or better). ☑️
  • 2 points in the next 2 matches (to get to 8 points after 5 matches). Looking good for ☑️

No Promoted squad for the PL has more than 8 points after 5 matches has been relegated…let that sink in we need two draws or a win in the next two matches….

Worth a bump for the night that's in it.

Thanks for that. I got most of that bang on I think and we got Brobbey, Nordi and Geertruida after I made this, so we were even stronger.

It does make you wonder if I can mull this over and get some clarity, why none of the pundits were able to see we were the best prepared squad of the last 12 promoted ones. And we've proved it. Ha'way the lads.

One of the best analysis pre-season. Congratulations.

Because pundits are just lazy. They peddled shite when we were in the Championship that we can't get promoted.
