Matty Young .

Ellborg is 3 years older than young.

The way youve phrased it could be read hes not older. By the time young is the age of those two i expect hell be playing premier league football
That’s what I mean mate, he’s played more senior football than those two combined, when we signed them.
It’s probably too soon for the lad but I agree, I hope he’ll be our number one in a couple of years. He certainly looks the part, to me.

I don’t think Ellborg done too much wrong when he came in, he’s not Roefs level but I don’t think many are and he was probably bought not to be first choice till 27/28 season and then Young might be fighting him for that position if he has another great season out on loan next year.
I didnt dare comment at the time 😂 but not sure Ellborg lets in those 9 Roefs just has!!

Roefs is 4 years older than young, ellborg has played European football
Yep he played a few European games also played 7 1st team games for Malmo, who promptly went out and bought a 1st choice keeper. So its fair to say malmo didn't think he was 1st team ready in the swedish league. He doesn't look anywhere near prem level for a regular 1st team place. Youngs distribution looks a lot better aswell.

Roefs has so much credit in the bank that people will rightly forgive him, if Ellborg came in for those 2 games and had the same performance some posters wouldn’t ever forgive him, which jus goes to show what some football fans are like.

Like you I don’t think we’d have conceded 9 but may have conceded others when Roefs pulls off a good save. We have a group of great young keepers, I can remember the Steele/Camp/Ruiter era and I’ll certainly take this over that.

Who was the last keeper to go from playing league 2 to Premier league football, a couple mistakes and he'd be hammered

Pickford played 30 odd in League One for Bradford and was then given his PL debut the following season.

James Trafford played 40 odd in League One before signing for Burnley in The Prem.

Nick Pope played a lot of lower league football, then half a season in The Championship, before signing for Premier League Burnley.

Other than that, I'm stumped. It would probably be too big a jump for the pressure alone. It's not just 11v11, if he makes a mistake for Salford it's only really the fans of Salford and their opposition who knows about it, if he makes a mistake in The Premier League, then it's talked about for weeks.

If he lets four or five in this weekend questions will begin to be asked, not just of him but the whole defence and Le Bris.
Questions will be asked and really questions could have been asked from Villa but I was just saying if it was Ellborg or even Matty Young in goal the questions would have been directed differently and there would have been calls for them to be dropped and never play for the club again by some. No player should get away with a poor performance I just hope if when Young or Ellborg get a game people remember that everyone has the bad games so dont go in too hard.

Melbourne is receiving a lot of criticism despite not playing badly. Roefs has a lot of credit in the bank, but he was directly responsible for a goal when he passed out to their player.

Aye fair but there’s such a thing as credit in the bank. Roofs for 90% plus of the games has looked an absolute class act.
