The end of todays game

I'm still on the train home and it's the least upset I've ever been about a defeat.

Funny the different way people react

I thought it was a class game, and the fact that we were within a fanny hair of winning makes me happy .

I've seen us lose away at Cheltenham, Shrewsbury, Wycombe , Lincoln... I'm not gonna give a shit about this result
Exactly. Excellent game and we gave Villa a heart attack. We can still have a good finish to the season.

I REALLY enjoyed that game. Slight bummer to lose but man what a team we have. So many positives to take away from that. Rigg’s first goal. Great chance taking by Wilson and especially Trai. The fight in the team.

OK - Diarra could’ve laid off etc. Luke was badly positioned for at least one goal. Imagine if we were in Spurs position and needed the points to stay up. But we don’t.

Maybe not as bad. But I do agree how anyone can take plus points from a defeat is clearly a mag. Defeats are not meant to make you upbeat and positive. They are meant to make you feel horrible. So I think every single loss has made me feel awful. It’s just the scale of the pain.

People looking at the postives are mags? No way.

Now the dust has settled there are a number of positives to take away from yesterday. We scored 3 good goals for starters and fought back when other teams would have folded. Good resilience to get ourselves back into the game and on another day we could have nicked 3 points.

You're a right tit you mate.

You'll not see my post because I'm one of the thousands you've blocked on here.

I think it's excellent that some folk are gutted about failing to beat a 5th placed European semi-finalist. Shows how far this team has come and how re-adjusted peoples expectations are. The polar opposite of the mags in fact. What a season we are having.
He should still have passed to Talbi mind

I think getting the game back to 4-3 will give the players a bit of a boost for Friday. Lose that 3-1 and they'd be a feeling around the camp that they weren't good enough. To end up just narrowly losing out should have the lads chomping at the bit to go again at home.

His comments are normally insightful and well balanced but he maybe had a couple of Shandies too many yesterday.
You’re confusing him with some other poster I think.

There’s a reason why he has the longest ignore list on here, he refuses to have any reasoned debate and hates being called out on being wrong.

That’s all well and sweet and maybe there is a grain of truth to it. But I still don’t understand this mindset. Why it is defeat triggers this automatic mental response of needing to go rooting around in the ashes of a loss for positives. Walking away from a defeat does the loss not make you feel sad and despondent? I honestly wouldn’t put money on it. I am more likely to feel down and depressed than you are. Some almost it seems enjoy a loss because they are incapable of feeling sad. A loss just means they can start looking for something positive.

The only thing positive is the next win.

We all deal with set backs and dissapointment in different ways I have no problem with that.

I was very disappointed at the final result yesterday. But once the dust has settled I find it better to look for positives if there are any and yesterday there was.

Over the years there have been far too many matches where we haven't turned up at all and no positives to be had. Port Vale this season was like that i still cannot look back now and see any positives it was a big opportunity missed, abysmal all over the pitch end of for me.

Yesterday we pushed a team flying in the Europa League and who look nailed on for a top 5 finish to the very end in their own backyard.

If nothing else we showed fight and resilience to pull it back to 3-3 and then could have won. We got punished for missing a big chance but there were still positives.

What’s important is that we learn from this and carry it into next season.

A couple months ago this board was all over Enzo about the panenka pen. One game later he took his chance to correct it and has been overall magic for weeks. Remember Mayenda missing headers in the EFL? First game this season he got one. Hopefully Diarra puts this in the memory bank.

I was not that surprised when we got it back to 3-3 because til the end and all that.

Definitely.

I don't always agree with the OP but he's said nothing wrong here. I don't normally get down after a defeat but I was gutted yesterday for all the reasons the OP has explained.
