New Villa stand gets the green light

Haven't you got a massive season ticket waiting list? 40K I read?
Yes we have but half of those on it haven’t been to a game in two years according to the club so you can take those numbers with a pinch of salt . Those on the waiting list will now move up or down depending on how many games they go to this season. The club are doing a points system for games attended so the more games you go to the better the chance of you getting offered a season ticket.

You’re forgetting he’s sacked 947 kitchen staff since he took over at Man United mind.
Good business practice. Saved them loads of money and people earning money for years there doing nothing all day. 1 office worker never turned their computer on for 7 months just sat there and did nothing for 7 months.
Worse than the bbc gravy train it was there. But that's the side you will never hear.

The maintenance man, walked in at 7am went home turned back up at 7pm for 2 years and got paid he was made redundant as well not sacked btw.

Ok thanks Jim

Not sure how public it is, nor how much it actually means it may happen, but I know they have submitted plans to build a new, larger ground, on Leazes park.

Good chance it's just hedging bets, getting pre approval etc while they decide what they want to do, but a good friend works for the Police in a relatively senior role and been in meetings as part of very early discussions.

It’s hugely controversial mind. The local residents are already unhappy plus it’s debatable how committed the Saudis are

Game has been moved to a Sunday night and is on tv hence the slower ticket sales. Palace have also sent back the upper tier of the away end which are on sale to Villa fans. We wouldn’t sell out every week at 50k unless we were doing really well but we’d sell out enough to make it worth while.

Is it not worrying you yet that Birmingham are rising from the ashes and reckon they will be englands biggest club ?

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

A stroll tgrough our concourse at half time will show you dozens of similar “workers”.

Will Birmingham fill this 62k new stadium if they aint in the top 6? Even if they were half the ground will likely be tourists with a similiar situation as West Ham currently face with Olympic stadium.

Villa are a big club and should be able to fill 50k+ but I've read a few Villa fans on social media claim if they were to drop back into mid table obscurity for a few seasons they wouldn't fill the ground outside of the games against the top sides.

I think football clubs outside of London have to factor in ticket prices - should prices keep increasing the average fan will stay away in the future, particularly if Netflix down the line can charge fans subscriptions to watch their side week in week out which very well may happen down the line. Its ok for clubs in cities like London who can replace these fans with day trippers, but could Newcastle build a new 65k ground and guarantee 10k of day trippers each weekend like Arsenal or Liverpool can?

Our new ground has just under 53k capacity but about 2000 seats are empty at present due to unsold high end hospitality packages by third party sellers. The frustrating thing is there are thousands who miss the ballot for a ticket but the club so far haven't put in a system to resell them so you see clusters of empty seats which is a waste.

So they're already working on that stand during the season. Anyone that went yesterday notice a difference?

For the 679th time European Super League or not in the future "no teams" will be leaving the Premier League not a chance of that happening.
There's a chance Spurs might be leaving the Premier League.:p

I really enjoyed Villa yesterday. All the Villa fans we met were great.

The concourse in the upper tier wasn’t great but we just stayed in our seats at half time.

A small complaint though. We were drinking in that fanzone bit and the stewards stopped a young child from going to the toilet in that warehouse place because he had club colours on. At best he would have been 7. The Villa fans nearby were kicking off about it

a lot of building materials outside, but didn't really notice anything once inside. I was very impressed with their fanzone offering for food and drink stalls outside the ground. We got a taxi from the city centre about 1pm, and he dropped us off about 100yds from the ground at about 1.15; very quick with hardly any traffic on the roads. He dropped us at the opposite end of the ground we needed to be, so we walked behind the trinity road end and then the north stand to get to our end. We decided to have a pint outside their main stand, plenty of bars to choose from and hardly any queues. Villa fans were friendly and chatty. We had a quick one there and then walked round the back of the north stand. We were looking at the old stand when a villa fan came up to us to tell us what was being done. He said they were basically filling in the corners to make a bowl type ground.

It was a nice sunny day and there was a big area behind that north stand with more bars and food outlets. it seemd a very good set up

Alway liked Villa because of Peter Withe and Gary Shaw in Europe. But some bint complained my car was too close to hers and she kicked right off haha. And the dog shit on the way to the ground was ridiculous.

Good club though, historic. Oh and Nigel Spink

Class ground. Loads of character

Villa fans we met hate the mags more than us it seems

They were joing in with "sob on the Tyne" anarl

Probably my favourite ground of the lot Villa Park. What a stadium man. Give me that any day of the week to the spaceship of Spurs etc. You felt you were at a proper old school football game yesterday inside a proper stadium. Loved it.
My view yesterday, watching the match wasn’t a problem, but not a visible screen/scoreboard or clock .

You could see that they had taken cladding off the side of the stands to prepare for the new bit but they haven’t started any construction yet by the looks of it. Nice to go to an old stadium again as others have said but you don’t half notice the difference when you leave the ground. One exit for everyone to leave by when leaving the bottom tier. Not as bad as the Leeds death trap but still a pain in the arse when trying to get out.

One thing I did notice was the amount of rubbish piled in gardens and on the corners of streets in the surrounding area. Are the bin collections still a problem in Birmingham @1874 @Cridge?

I believe they still are , although I’m based 25-30 mile outside of the city so wouldnt know for sure. The inner city areas of Birmingham and some of the poorer areas outside the centre are really struggling to manage the waste. It looks really bad I know.

How and why are Villa going ahead with the redevelopment if they are in financial trouble?

If the spreadsheets are not looking good how can they afford to spend that kind of money on a new stand.

Not that I begrudge them of success even when they have been a thorn in our side since the early 1900's.
