Kent Boy 2
Striker
Is the correct answer. All the hype is ridiculous! The lad is learning every day and doing alright. I’d say leave the pressure off predicting he’s the next coming of monty and let’s just keep behind him in his development.

I’m not sure you understand what hype means, then.A bit of hindsight hype there perhaps. Preston fans saying that after 20 games he was the best keeper to have ever played for them
As I said, he was well regarded but there wasn’t a lot of hype at the time. Even we were happy at the time that Mannone started that season as first choice.
Only heard the commentary but he was getting the blame for their goal, the lass commentator was saying something along the lines of 'keeper shouldn't be getting beat from there's and the man city were too embarrassed to celebrate as it was too easy. I thought f***ing hell it man city Vs Salford ffs
Never saw the goal and haven't been paying too much attention. Marmoush scored a beauty that was ruled offside that he got nowhere near. But Salford are doing quite well now.
Heard the commentators say he was at fault when he came out of his area to clear the ball, but I didn't see it - think he gave city possesion.
He's being quite well protected but he's just flicked away a deflected clearance from his own player quite well with his feet.
Only started really paying attention on 67 mins.
2-0 City
A cross /shot by Cherki comes in and Young has to parry away from goal, comes straight back in and City score.
City having a bit a go now.
Just made a good punch from a corner
Semenyo through and Young beaten but comes back off the inside of the post.
Another loan. Be similar to when Pickford went to Bradford the year after being at Burton IIRC.
His kicking was spot on today and looked confident generally.
exactly ...
if this progression was good enough for Jordan Pickford ... then it's good enough for Young ...
2011–2017 You must be logged on to see external links31 (0) 2012 → You must be logged on to see external links(loan)17 (0) 2013 → You must be logged on to see external links(loan)12 (0) 2013 → (loan) 12 (0) 2014 → (loan) 18 (0) 2014–2015 → (loan) 33 (0) 2015–2016 → (loan) 24 (0) 2017– 319
so Pickford was an 18 years old at Darlington ... 21 /22 years old or so in the Championship with Sunderland by 2016 ... August 2017 Premiership debut he'd be about 23 years old.. Matty Young is doing okay at the minute
Has anyone ever spent 3 consecutive years on loan at a club?
Keepers are always tricky ones, it is all about if the spot opens up for him really, even harder to get that in the PL.
Would be the sensible route or a European club if one was interested. If Salford (sorry Swindon) go up via the play offs and no decent championship options were open he could go back there for 6 months.Championship loan next year?
The future is fine but we only have 1 that I would want in our first 11,and he is attracting a lot of interest.Would be the sensible route or a European club if one was interested. I know we have to plan for the future but we seem to have 3 good keepers on our books and all are young, scary having sensible people in charge at the club.
I don’t think Ellborg done too much wrong when he came in, he’s not Roefs level but I don’t think many are and he was probably bought not to be first choice till 27/28 season and then Young might be fighting him for that position if he has another great season out on loan next year. The future is fine but we only have 1 that I would want in our first 11,and he is attracting a lot of interest.
You are right about 27/28 ,if RR goes we must have an experienced GK signed.I don’t think Ellborg done too much wrong when he came in, he’s not Roefs level but I don’t think many are and he was probably bought not to be first choice till 27/28 season and then Young might be fighting him for that position if he has another great season out on loan next year.
Championship loan next year?
No idea who though, my mind went straight to Leno at Fulham but no idea if he suits our way of playing or is Fulham would let him leave. Trafford for a year on loan or some random from Europe I guess, wouldn’t want anyone for 2/3 years as that’s just a block. You are right about 27/28 ,if RR goes we must have an experienced GK signed.
That would be ideal for us and the lad himself. Serious potentialChampionship loan next year?
Strasbourg keeper has been linked as a swap deal for Roefs. No idea who though, my mind went straight to Leno at Fulham but no idea if he suits our way of playing or is Fulham would let him leave. Getting POTY nominations in L2, then you'd think a Champ club would snap our hands off for him.Championship loan next year?
Penders?Strasbourg keeper has been linked as a swap deal for Roefs.
Yeah. That's the one. Had a decent season.Penders?
Another young player but I trust the club if it is him.
Suppose it opened up a change for Patto to continue his developement on loan, and put someone else on the bench? Could potentially split it again next year too?It would be useful if our GK was a homegrown player…would take one of the spaces up for years…..that’s why I don’t really understand why we signed Ellborg.
