Much prefer this rule than being offside by a pubic hair

VAR is for clear and obvious mistakes, offside is binary so if the tech say they are offside then it’s clear and obvious they are offside if we believe the tech is correct. It doesn't matter what the rule is, it's always going to be contentious. All they're doing is moving the line. I was under the impression that VAR was meant to be for clear and obvious decisions, but they're replaying a few frames to decide if a player's big toe was giving them an advantage. I'd be in favour of just scrapping it altogether.
They will still be offside by a pubic hair but daylight plus the pubic hair. The line needs to be drawn somewhere all that it dos is moves the line. You’ll still get players offside by 1mm or a public hair. It solves nothing.Much prefer this rule than being offside by a pubic hair
Or try a season with no offsides how about thatVAR is for clear and obvious mistakes, offside is binary so if the tech say they are offside then it’s clear and obvious they are offside if we believe the tech is correct.
I might be mistaken but I don’t think offsides go to VAR as a red card decision but more to the tech to check if the decision was correct. Commentators just say BAR are checking which I think is technically incorrect.

This for me as well. VAR is crapJust scrap VAR. Job done.
Brian Clough had it right - if a player is on the pitch he’s interfering with playI'd prefer if they went back to if any player is offside, they all are whether the player is interfering with play or not. If a defender on the far side of the pitch is playing everyone onside, the goal stands even though he's not interfering with play, it should be the same the other way around.
Be hilarious, full on goal hanger like you used to get in school. Corners would be a laugh as you’d just leave 2 or 3 up and if the keeper catches it just long ball.Or try a season with no offsides how about that![]()
because you’d still get the exact same issue of people crying about them only being a toenail offside. Why don’t make it if the feet (or a foot) is past the last defender? Would be a lot simpler

No think it was Cloughie. Shankly said the one about football being more important than life and death, but not sure what he said about offsideThought it was Bill Shankly who said that not Cloughy

It just makes it easier for the strikers instead of favouring defence which has it's pros and cons as you'd think it leads to more goals and more excitement though it could just lead to tactical changes that actually make the game duller.VAR is for clear and obvious mistakes, offside is binary so if the tech say they are offside then it’s clear and obvious they are offside if we believe the tech is correct.

I'd not say it was favouring anyone, its just a law that gives nobody any advantage, we arent getting loads of boring 0-0 games with 5 goals ruled out for 1mm offsides. We just need a basic offside of if any part of your body is in front of the defender in their half yourself offside, youre on the pitch so you're interfering. Full automated with the latest tech so it doesnt take 5 minutes. Ridiculous is another wishy washy word that shouldnt be involved, I'd think Wissa being 2mm offside in an FA cup Final v Sunderland was ridiculous if tech showed it within 20 seconds and it stopped us winning it, ridiculous example but where do we draw the line?It just makes it easier for the strikers instead of favouring defence which has it's pros and cons as you'd think it leads to more goals and more excitement though it could just lead to tactical changes that actually make the game duller.
We will have to see.
Easiest thing for VAR would be to have a proper offside rule, not of this isn't interfering with paky bullshit and let the ref/linesman call it then VAR can call them back if it's just something ridiculous and clearly offside. Just no need to be spending five plus minutes analysing a pinky toe.
A think wenger pushed for this
Apparently going to be trialed in in Canadian premier league shortly

It's clear that while the idea is sound and the technology is fine, the people doing the VAR are fcking idiots or blind. The England game v Uruguay, for example...This for me as well. VAR is crap
Same rule for both teams, though. If it increases goals per game, it'll make it more entertaining. Not saying i'm for or against it, mind. I don't know what to think.Ridiculous advantage to attackers. Can't even see the man you're defending against unless you spend the whole game facing your own goal.
Making it foot position is the answer staring everyone in the face.
I really don't get this thing about more goals = more entertainment. Is that honestly what fans want? Goals are hard to come by and special as a consequence. I thought that was the whole appeal.Same rule for both teams, though. If it increases goals per game, it'll make it more entertaining. Not saying i'm for or against it, mind.
