Xhaka not happy with the early leavers

Not sure if it's been mentioned on the thread but the situation with traffic to and from the stadium needs addressing asap. Whilst I don't agree with it, I do sort of understand why people leave early as I've sat for well over an hour on occasion along Wessington Way and then you go over Wearmouth Bridge and that's equally problematic. If leaving 10 minutes early saves that wait I do appreciate why people would do it, especially if they have kids with them. The club and Sunderland Council need to come together and resolve this.

Instead of putting traffic lights every 50 meters, the council should be looking to ease congestion, not create it.

This was raised at a club meeting recently. I don’t think there is any intention to do anything, however.

I think you are bang on to be honest. You can actually feel the apathy in the crowd because after a good start people were expecting us to be steam rolling sides like Fulham at home. Now we aren’t, they are getting on the players backs.

It’s unbelievable really when every Sunderland supporter would have snapped your hand off to be where we are before a ball has been kicked.

I can honestly see players like xhaka asking to leave at the end of the season.

Have you tried getting away from Old Trafford, Emirates or Anfield?
 
The fans pay to be there. Leave if they want.
Diarra was paid to be there, he should have turned up.


I never understand why players turn on the fans. It’s never a good look

Yeah. I got away from old trafford a lot easier than I did from the SoL.

Trying to get to the A19 is a nightmare

I'm sure a lot of posters on here have been around long enough to know that our home support can be absolutely immense on occasion - and seemingly devoid of all hope and confidence at others. It's probably been bred into us. We're either 'back' and showing the world why we're such a special football club..... or we're mostly 'meh' and sat ready for the next disappointment, and a slide into crisis.

What I really struggle with is to understand how it turns so quickly. It's just a few months since 'Til The End' became more than just a marketing slogan. No matter how we were playing there was a clear belief both on and off the pitch that we were capable of pulling a game back - Bournemouth being just one example.

But yesterday we lost a soft goal, saw Ballard go off injured, and you could almost sense the collective deflation of any remaining hope or expectation.

It's chicken and egg - if the players lose confidence, so do the fans - and vice versa. Granit Xhaka might feel that it is now that the players (esp. the stand-ins, or younger lads) need the same level of support and drive from fans we gave them every week earlier in the season.

The leaving early bit is the same at pretty much every ground in the country when things aren't working out on the pitch - but we've got to question if this squad deserve better. Our great start, and the acquiring of 40 points, has probably meant we're all a bit more relaxed than we were were in August and thus we sit in expectation when the game starts. But when we're only 1-0 down to a very good and well-established PL side like Brighton - having matched them or more for long periods - I don't think it's unreasonable to think that we'll 'believe' even though things are going against us. Not only from those who leave, but also from those left in the stadium. Fans won't be inclined to leave if they think they're going to miss something.

Unfortunately there is no possible way does it actually help the team leaving early .Earlier on this season felt like every home match was a cup final most stayed till the end and it was amazing it did make a difference Apathy has set in muted celebration when we beat Palace and Burnley as most had gone home

To be honest mate, I have been parking at St Mary’s lately. takes well over an hour to get out of there from level 2. I got out of my seat a minute early, and stood by the exit. Darted out right as the whistle went and straight out without a queue. Didn’t leave early, was ready to go bang on. Will be doing this on the regular now, helps when we loose as no post match celebrations.
 
Having chew with people stood in the way at end of the game. Old lady behind me who can't see if i stand up. Stewards constantly doing nothing despite speaking to them a number of times over recent weeks. On Saturday, i asked the steward if he was going to do his job and move people along and he laughed at me and said he doesn't usually work in this stand so isn't bothered. 2 mins later im getting called a wa**er because i asked someone to move. Half tempted to be awkward myself and see if they move me if I stand in their way.

Hopefully not be a problem next season if area goes to safe standing, at least i'd not feel as guilty stood up at the end of a game. All for people doing what they want, but if you're gonna leave your seat early at least piss off out the way of others who do stop till the end of games

Something people didn't seem arsed about at the Coventry match where more people than usual would have driven.
