More erasing of history...

I didn't say it was a pantomime villain only doing bad. You said a lot if it was a good thing.

Would you agree that overall the British Empire devastated and raped countries in the main?
Which countries were left devastated? Most of them emerged safer, more prosperous, better standards of living and health, better law and order, liberties, democratic institutes, and great cities
Pre-decimal currency featured animals, thistles, and a ship. Then we went all woke with bloody decimalisation, and started sticking 'notable people' on the currency. Pathetic. Erased our history in 1971.

Coins still do. I think people are on about scrapping historical figures from notes, which we've done for ~60 years

Should be grateful shouldn't they and not get any uppity ideas.

Ireland, Scotland, and Wales were disproportionately involved in Empire building and running it. All 3 benefited from it. All 3 were willing members of Great Britain (a section of the Irish wished for home rule).
All the other countries mentioned benefited from it, and were left better off (many regressed and fell into corruption etc once they gained their freedom though). Obviously the slavers and ruling class of Nigeria and Ghana etc wouldn't have been happy once we'd stopped their love of taking slaves.
China wasn't in the Empire.

Ireland has no language left after it was literally beaten out of them, the population was nearly wiped out and has not recovered to this day, the divisions created by the British have destroyed the country. You're mad.

China wasn't in the empire but the empire was responsible for the Opium Wars.

Absolutely mad.

Absolute, total nonsense.
Worryingly, you know this too.

it’s easy to understand, the perceived worthiness to be on the bank notes only extends as far as historical characters that hark back to a bygone era. The celebration of these characters are handy in stirring up patriotism.
But it’s always selective on the choice of characters.
But let’s not forget these people are history and celebrating other parts of life doesn’t stop them being history
If I watch an Attenborough documentary, it doesn’t diminish a world war documentary. And it’s also worth remembering things don’t stay the same, it’s the reason we don’t live in caves, because people take progressive steps

Its performative rage baiting from professional rage baiters. Obviously the hard of thinking roundabout painters will be jumping up and down that their baccy money won't have the massive racist Churchill on it. I bet they dont even know who the others are either. Will you suddenly forget Austen, Turner or Turing existed when they disappear from bank notes too?

People do care though
A country with such a rich and proud history as ours, scrapping historical characters - that play an important role in the story of our nation, and who we are - from bank notes, to avoid angering the anti-Britain, BLM, Pro-Palistine, Pro-Iran etc etc knackers that we've filled our country with.

Scandalous really.
What did you vote for?

Hopefully it'll be native lions...from near Chester le Street.

Or perhaps some nice bats. I mean why celebrate a rich history of Shakespeare, Churchill, Nelson etc etc etc?

Its more woke crap. The abuse here merely confirms this.

44k.
Enormous amount of people that. Nearly as many as we got versus Bradford in division 3.
You aren't getting abused
You sound old enough to remember talking before Woke was thrown in non stop
Just use other words
Lefty righty gammon snowflake woke etc are really cringy .
You're angry again ( you'll say you're not bothered again )
This time over a picture on a banknote ( almost redundant items )
Ref History
The libraries and museums are still open
Wiki is alive . Tv channels and YouTube still going .

They will go back to roundabout painting, when the weather gets better, no doubt.

One thing I love about @johnlights is that he's gloriously stubborn and pig headed.

No way could he declare this as woke nonsense but then admit he was wrong and stupid for getting so wound up.

Have to have a small amount of admiration for someone who in the face of all of the evidence will still plough on with their position being the right one.

Utterly incorrect today but you know, one day, may just get it right.
