F1 2026

To be honest, I am not sure what the solution is. We all want drivers to be driving flat out all race. We all want good competitive races with lots of action. The issue is teams always work out how is the fastest way to complete those 300km on a Sunday, that is their goal and they aren't bothered about the racing spectacle. So it doesn't really matter what you do, give them bullet proof tyres, they will go forever on them, give them tyres that fall to bits then will driving slower to make them last as long as possible.
The correct answer ^ - Knee jerk rule changes just end up creating new strategies that might be far from what you hoped for. The Game Theory wins out every time. You have to be so so careful.

As for tyres, they had the right idea with those ones that you could run flat out, but then fell off a cliff once the "prime" rubber wore away, leaving a secondary layer underneath that was safe, but about 5s a lap slower. At least then you had 2-3 pit stops per race, which while artificial to a point, is always better for the spectacle.
But we need tracks that are suited to racing, that have a long straight, that are wide, that have gradient, that have grip, that get weather.
We need more wet weather racing. We needs the willingness to put full wets on and race.
Even the good tracks are no good now cos the cars are far too big and have far too much downforce - treating 130R and Eau Rouge like a straight is a crying shame
For wet racing, something has to be done about the spray. The tyres work great, but if people can't see......
I've said they simply need to force all cars on full wets and just run on VSC to clear the surface water away. Problem is if you burn up all the laps I suppose, but you have to chose between that or no race.

Any lads (or lasses) on here been to Silverstone and stayed in Milton Keynes? Found a free cancellation hotel for 80 quid a night for this year so going to head down, curious to know if anyone knows the best way to get from the city to the track?
There’s shuttle buses from MK

Found it. That is 100% NOT their car!

Louise lost Matt and Tommy at their dazzling "suite of partners" and they cut the feed

Been thinking more about this compression ratio situation and I think there is a way the FIA can make a change and it doesn't leave Mercedes with an argument. Rather than changing the rule and replacing the cold test with a hot test, all they need to do is amend the rule to say this will be measured at ambient temperature and during this hot test.

At this point they aren't changing the rules they are simply adding an extra test to ensure 16:1 is being followed. FIA has done this constantly over the years, be it flexi wings or the Ferrari engine.

Maybe the FIA could do a test where the race director has to follow the rules.

That might be useful.
