F1 2026

Yeah, I don't think its for us.
I think its more for the access you get, and then you take YOUR clients to those events to show off and win business.

We sponsor Man Utd and it gets us access to use pitch-view conference rooms, for example.
We also sponsor Ferrari now I think about it, and I'm buggered to see what we get for that one!!!
Ah you work for DXC. I worked for them for 9 years. Not a single pay rise in that time, but they had enough cash to sponsor Man Utd and Ferrari, wound me up so much I quit and got a job with a much better employer!

This year is going to be all about managing batteries FFS

Why can we just have a screaming V10 and some petrol.

Managing batteries it’s bloody scalextrix!

Managing tyres aswell

They won't be pushing 100% flat out

They will push 60% and hope that's good enough to win
The drivers are saying that we will see quite profound speed differentials when someone has no battery power left.

Good.
Some tactics that play out on the road, but unlike DRS, its a level playing field. No automatic benefit every single lap just because you're close to someone.
Manage your total energy better than your opponent and you'll beat them.

They were a company I had to work with sometimes to help manage defence contracts for my place, and they were by far the worst. One time DXC changed around their contracts team to 'streamline' things but in the process somehow lost all software license & subscription info on the government contracts they had, so had to start contacting suppliers asking if they could let them know if DXC had bought anything for the MOD that was coming up to expire soon

This may be the case but I’d prefer a return to pure F1 with big petrol guzzling screaming V10s. Batteries leave me cold. It’s starting to resemble Formula E where drivers could get a boost voted for by fans.

Bahrain first test confirmed that only final hour of each day is broadcast. Seems like the large concern is the new fuel most teams haven't used yet but must use in Bahrain with the miles done in Barcelona giving a bit of false hope in reliability.

Yea we are getting 1 hour , but that's more then we got last year for the first test

seems like a bit of a daft idea not to use it spain mind.

Was at the request of the teams. I'm guessing they either weren't ready or wanted to get the rest of the car sorted first.

Bit of an explosive article in Italian media this morning. Suggestion is FIA will change the compression checks to be carried out when engine is hot and that RedBull has sided with the other engine manufacturers giving the majority needed for the change.

Toto aint gonna be happy !!

funny, i saw a quote from the Mercedes launch on monday where toto's message to the other teams was just to 'sort your shit out', which reminded me of Horner when he had a dig at everyone complaining about how good the ground effects red bull was - looks like red bull came back to bite him.

There was also quotes from someone high up at Mercedes talking about they would happily take the issue to court - that seems to suggest things haven't gone their way

Yeah they’d go to court for this advantage but not for 2021 !
Shambles
Suppose its one thing to fight decisions before the event happens, vs trying to change the outcome afterwards?

Seems very wrong to change the engine rules 2.9 years into the 3 year development window.
Mind, also seems wrong to have a measure that can be circumvented.

But the party who wrote that rule and then too far too long to address it are to blame for both of those things.

This rule has already changed since it was first written. When it was first drafted the rule simply stated "Compression ratio must not exceed 16:1" the bit about measuring at ambient temperatures was added last october - likely when teams sought clarification about the situation
Just been quite sad and gone though the different versions of the regs and IMO the other teams have every right to fight this

July 2025 version - No cylinder of the engine may have a geometric compression ratio higher than 16.0. The procedure which will be used to determine this value may be found in the document FIA-F1-DOC-C042.

October 2025 - No cylinder of the engine may have a geometric compression ratio higher than 16.0. The procedure which will be used to determine this value may be found in the document FIA-F1-DOC-C042 and executed at ambient temperature.

Current version - No cylinder of the engine may have a geometric compression ratio higher than 16.0. The procedure to measure this value will be detailed by each PU Manufacturer according to the Guidance Document FIA-F1-DOC-C042 and executed at ambient temperature. This procedure must be approved by the FIA Technical Department and included in the PU Manufacturer homologation dossier
