Harry Brook all-rounder

So he lied about the nightclub then
Has to be sacked now, you can't gave the captain of England outright lying to his coaches, his Test Captain and the public.
His position is untenable and I suspect if we have a poor WT20 he will be for the chop alongside Baz

TBH I'm not really bothered that he lied.

At least his altercation with a bouncer didnt end in tragedy like it did with David Hookes.

The Hookes story is absolutely tragic but Brook lying to everyone about this makes his position untenable. No one can trust anything he says

That’s the worst part of the entire debacle. It’s been swept under the carpet by the ECB pre Ashes, then it’s come out, he’s lied about no other players being there, celebrated like a juvenile after a milestone, then been outed.

His position is certainly untenable and he should also be sent home and not able to participate for a period of time. I think this also adds extra pressure to the management group as a whole. The culture is set at the top; Key, McCullum and arguably even Stokes should step down or be removed.

These are highly paid privileged people in an incredibly fortunate position that allows them to represent their country and travel the world. If they can’t respect that, they shouldn’t be wearing the badge irrespective of talent.

So because of one incident with a bouncer 4 people should lose their jobs

@Sea to Shining Sea has put forward a clear and logical argument why their positions are untenable and clarified that it's not the single issue but the aftermath that deserves the sanctions. In the interests of your credibility could you explain why you believe such sanctions shouldn't be imposed?
The whole image of English cricket has lost all credibility and trust.

As much as I think he’s so talented, he’s really dislikable isn’t he?

The laughing when he plays a shit shot, the “we don’t do team meetings because they’re boring”, this…

He’s a complete arse
Agreed. He needs to mature and develop as a human being and a player. At the moment he comes across as arrogant, lazy, entitled and thick. Every time he opens his mouth, it’s like listening to Joffrey from Game of Thrones.

I hate listening to any interview he does, he sounds like a complete idiot. How anyone saw leadership qualities in him I'm just not sure.

He turns 27 next month so not exactly a kid. As others have said he just doesn't have the leadership qualities and has nothing between the ears, that's unlikely to change throughout his career.

Makes you wonder about his parents. If he was a son of mine, I’d have torn him a new one long before now.

I'd say it's fair on brook but stokes not so much

I did say arguably for Stokes. He’s been part of a set up that has encouraged a care free, dare I say responsibility and accountability free, approach. I don’t apportion blame to him for this particular incident but the overall culture, across formats, is evidently unprofessional.

Stokes encourages a positive mindset but knowing his competitive attitude I can't see him tolerating any care free attitude. Certainly he shouldn't take any responsibility for the nightclub antics. It's essential he stays but clearly there was no due diligence carried out before Brook's appointment. He's clearly unsuited to any leadership role and for that McCullum and Key are responsible. Likewise the overall conduct and behaviour of the squad is their responsibility.England have become the laughing stock of World Cricket. Both their positions are therefore untenable. Brook has to be relieved of any leadership responsibility but I'd take his apologies at face value. A quality head coach strong on discipline both on and off the field is essential to work alongside Stokes.

Due diligence would have hardly been required. Brook is a tit and there's no way in the world that wouldn't have been evident in his behaviour every single day.

They binned off Ollie Pope for this idiot. He must be delighted. There was a statement at the time about Brook s obvious leadership capability. There's no leadership capability anywhere in this chain of command.

A professional and serious England operation would send him home and not pick him at all for the T20 World Cup, as well as stripping him of the captaincy permanently. Should obviously lose the vice captaincy of the test team too. It is ridiculous that it’s not Joe Root tbh, the Aussies think nothing of using former captains as VCs. And nobody else is putting their hand up.

He needs a proper punishment.

They all are mate barring Root who I love.

I follow England in multiple sports and I’ve never disliked an England team more than this one. Even the football team that consistently embarrassed themselves and the country in the mid to late 2000s didn’t irk me as much as this, although granted there is recency bias.

You never hear about the football and rugby teams behaving like this, yet it seems to be a consistent problem for English cricketers.
