Nissan

Worse employers going? How many other employers have you worked for? Or are you just bitter from your experience
Mate you cannot defend Nissan. I’ve got mates who’ve been there years and I really feel for them with how they get treated.

It might have given you a good wage for 30 years and fair play if you’ve been on the line for that long - but it’s a place that I’ve tried to wipe from my memory.

It isn’t even a good wage. The corruption, favouritism, bullying tactics absolutely horrendous place to work.
If you’re a team leader or supervisor you may be ok. But it’s still a shite job.
Lads and lasses on the line maximum output with minimal staff.
You’ve got people in hi viz vests walking around doing absolutely bot all.
“Oh it takes 3 of us to check this box of parts for defects or secondary damage” (to be honest a team leader could dee that job) Absolute bollocks
Again maximum output minimal man staff
Supervisors clueless
Seniors clueless
Management none existent
And now let’s get onto the castings staff.
Brought in because they couldn’t afford paying them off so they bang them all over trim and chassis until they reach breaking point and leave. (I’d laugh my fat tits off if they did that with the HR lot) but obviously won’t as it’s a different kettle of fish….
Until they realise they do bollocks all as well.
And now let’s get onto needing the toilet….
“Oh you need the toilet do you? It’s the same time ever day”? Yeah, because I need the toilet at about the same time every day.
What do you expect? Me to wait until my fabulous 15 minutes of break time which is about 10 minutes by the time I’ve walked to the rest area and then set my station up again for the next session.
I’ll go to the toilet when i need to thanks, and not when you say.
This company is getting to me now, obviously.

Seems to be getting worse like

I got made redundant about 4 years ago from my job, got offered a job at the battery plant (forgotten what it was called back then but believe it been renamed now) I turned it down for a job about 10k a year less and everyone was saying i was crazy.

I love where i am now (as far as loving a job goes) and going from an automotive factory to a non automotive the difference is night and day.

No last minuite or forced overtime and just so much more relaxed atmosphere. I sit most of the time building PCB's compared to the heavy lifting, bending and dashing between different machines flogging like a hoss.

I'll be thousands down but I'm a lot happier than I would have been. If I'd have gone to there.

Edit - Envision, that's where it was.

Brought back some memories of working there. Spending breaks filling the station back up, struggling to get a toilet break. sounds like not much has changed.
Worked on line 1 T&C, short notice/no notice overtime, hated it. Voluntary redundancy was the best thing I got out of it.

Careful mate I got verbally abused for calling the place out. Its a modern day sweat box but god help you for saying it

Basically what I did, took a huge paycut for more social hours and no forced OT.

Genuinely feel like a different person once you’re out a while.

I didn’t mind the job in Nissan, I got on great with people but it was the slow realisation that nobody gave a fuck combined with seeing the way things were heading about 5 years ago with the downturn in sales and lack of EV offerings that got me to take the jump.

Dont need to preach to me mate - I lasted 4 months when I was a young’n and I remember dreading every second of it. How people have worked there for years on end baffles me.

No wonder so many who work on the line are hooked on drink, gambling (the infamous coscoin) and fcuking Monster.

Give us some examples of how badly they have been treated or yourself.

4 months? Atleast you give it time

Rarely met anyone that's spent a significant spell at an employer and said the place was great, tbh.

Most people suck so most jobs are going to. Awful people generally gravitate to higher roles as well. Getting rid of people and trying to con the remaining staff to do the extra work created is such a common theme, it's a cliche.

No matter how big the company or turnover, they're pleading poverty and seemingly never making any money out of it somehow. Just breaking even.

Worked at a quite small place and the owners were always flaunting what they had while paying everyone absolute buttons. The owner regularly told us what he was buying for a rather expensive hobby of his, while some listening had to work in cafes at the weekend to keep the lights on. Couldn't run a place like that and look at myself in the mirror every morning; you'd have to have no soul.

Mate come on. Are you a gaffa there or something?

Are you saying things would have got better if I’d stayed like?
No I'm not a gaffer and it's just annoying when people who don't work somewhere and when they did it wasn't enough time for the ink to dry on your contract comment on a workplace that damages reputations which is not great especially for people who want to continue to work there for the future.

It's a f***ing shithole which treats its employees like crap. People who want to work there should be warned how they will be treated. Dunno why you can't take any criticism of the hell hole.

Grow up man, people are allowed to post their experiences and opinions. You're nearly as bad as the poster who said only people who work there can slate it, if others do they feel protective...

Brainwashing people into grafting their life away.

I got the same white when I posted about the place, I spent 11 years in there, so plenty of time to gauge what it was like.

it’s almost like deep down they know they’ve spent most of their life working in a toxic environment and have snipes at others for ‘not being hard enough to hack it’ and finding something else

Pretty embarrassing tbh

Mate the fcuking line trial is enough to make you realise what you’ll be doing forever if you get the job.

Are you on the line there?

Nissan can not be so bad or they would struggle to retain / attract staff. 1 family member and 2 good mates work there….. 2 still on the lines….. it is good pay for under skilled staff, if there was somewhere better (locally people would walk)
