This idea that there will be less interest in away games next season is crazy imo. If anything, people are now highly motivated to keep their points high. The mags sell out every away game on high points and they've been in the PL for a decade.

Now luckily for me, I'm in phase 1 for games with 3000 tickets, phase 2 for Brentford, Oxford, Bournemouth (got the 2 I wanted though). So I'm sorted, but it absolutely is a closed shop now.

I went to the mags away under Keane in that first season with only a few points. It was totally different then.

Seen this earlier. Interesting tactic. I know this was a home game but same principles apply for away games.

It allows them to sell membership schemes to enter the ballots. Money maker for them

Thats harsh for selling a home ticket rather than them reselling it and he had nothing to gain.

If their system is similar to ours, the club have lost out on A) selling the ticket to someone on their membership list through their ballot scheme and B) they’d have paid 1/19th of the cost of the season ticket and sold it for the match day price which will be considerably higher than the 1/19th price.

Doesnt say how much he wanted for it, sounds like a one off.
But rules are rules i suppose

It’s kind of part of the same issue as away tickets isn’t it. Most established premier league clubs the season tickets are a “closed shop”. Lots of long waiting lists etc. Let’s say I’ve had my season ticket for 20 odd years but now I want to cash in on our new found success I could keep renewing my season ticket and flogging the tickets off for the games I’m not bothered about and then use it myself for the glamour games. I’ve locked out another fan from getting a season ticket and also earning money the club is technically entitled to. Tourist type fans have driven this environment and there’s always someone willing to cash in on someone else happy to pay over the odds.

Personally I’ve got no issue with being able to pass on your ticket to mates etc but as long as it’s at face value and you’re not making anything from it and it’s not say more than 20% of the time.

Yes I have a season ticket, as does my son.

He was too young.

Please explain how many points he can get over the next few seasons.

He’s got 2 pts. If we get drawn away if we beat Oxford he might get a third. If not it’s two for the season.

He might get 5 next year at a push and 5 the season after.

That means he’s perpetually between 10 and 15 points forever, which is effectively useless

I suppose as long as the rules have been clearly communicated with the fans (something we struddle with) then it's fair enough. When you buy the ticket you agree to follow the T&C's.

Absolute gold watching @Mnemonic get so rattled cos he can’t get a 6 year old a ticket for games he wants to handpick, oh as long as they not midweeks or shite kick off times that he’s already stated he won’t take his kid out of school for. I lost count how many times I took my bairn out of school to attend away games, ultimately if want to reach phase 1 for most games you need to make a lot of sacrifices and some people just not prepared to do that.

I’m not rattled, I’m just pointing out the current system is selfish. It’s a closed shop by those with high points who won’t even discuss other systems.

No matter what anyone does they can’t get enough points when all the high point people get all the points every away match.

It’s a one in, one out system.

A ballot will be introduced though.

They could easy have got enough points, they just chose not to and that’s fine.

Probably be back in the championship by the time they do that and nebody will want to go anymore.

Kids are born every year, hence that’s why some come of age every year.

There are at least 7000 different season ticket numbers that have been to away games this season ..probably more
 
What will happen is people will cry for a ballot. The ballot will happen and they’ll only get a couple of tickets a season so they’ll cry for a new system again.

It has been mentioned but it is funny how people can suddenly have the circumstances to go to away games this season but haven’t bothered their arses the last 3 year in the championship (and league 1 before that). Roughly 70 away games the last 3 year and I reckon about 50/55ish you’d have managed to get a ticket pretty easily.
