Away tickets - Loyalty points . . .

Call me what you will, but if they start bringing in ballots for away tickets then I just wouldn’t bother, been to every game this season, have had to go into phase two for the last two tickets sold ( Bournemouth and Oxford) and managed to get tickets ok, the idea of having to enter a lottery for a ticket doesn’t appeal to me at all, I’d just stop going to away games.
Can agree with this - I don't mind being in phase 2/3 and at least having control over whether I get a ticket or not. Save for the reduced allocations, all phase 2 league matches this season have been guaranteed a ticket which makes planning etc. a lot easier

A ballot has no appeal to me whatsoever either

Its quite obvious with the lack of atmosphere among the away support this season that there is too many anoraks who collect black cats points like its a stamp collection. The ballot will help liven things up by allowing a wider section of society to attend.
I’m not sure how you’ve come to this conclusion. I go to the away games and see all the regular faces who have been going for the past 10 years.

There is an argument to say that having a few going into a ballot will actually make those with high points even less likely to miss a game as the cut off for phase 1 would need to rise according to the reduced number of tickets. When we were last in the PL I used to do about half the away games and never had any issue getting tickets. I have always done pretty much all the cup games as well. We used to avoid the likes of Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal most years due to the cost they used to charge back them. We always did Stoke, Blackburn and Hull type games though.

If some tickets go into a ballot, I am far more likely to continue doing every game to protect my LP position rather than picking and choosing as I used to back then. It could be counter productive.
At an average of 30-60 checks per game it’ll take years to catch people 3 times imo.
It wont if they are smart about it. Monitor the activity of the people caught and pull the next away ticket they buy for a check as well. Hardly rocket science.

There is never going to be a system that everyone finds 100% fair. The current system works well IMO. The club already offer a percentage of away tickets to corporate before it goes to those with loyalty points.

It has to be said again though, that some of the people complaining about a closed shop now, didn't bother building up points in league 1 and the championship.
Part timers.

Yes just block out everyone who cant give every penny and moment of their lives to Sunderland AFC. Great idea

Where were you when we played Cardiff, Swansea and Plymouth away last season?

You obviously didn’t bother attending when the going was tough, so why should you pick and choose which games you can go to. Now that we’re in the PL.

He's not saying that is he?
He just wants to go and watch us play at the top 6 grounds. He’s just aggrieved that he can’t go because he didn’t bother when we were in the Championship.

i'd have thought that word will sharp get round and people will stop selling/buying them if there's a chance they could get caught out.
Just noticed this. Its in Brightons notice for the sale of away tickets for their away match with us in March.

'Any supporter found to be passing on away tickets will be subject to a five premier league home match ban, during that time the excluded supporter will not be able to purchase away tickets and a 50-point loyalty point deduction will be made'

Wouldn't imagine many would risk these penalties to pass on tickets.

See that's the clear communication we are sadly lacking

Aye but haven’t you heard there’s thousands of parents whose kids have just suddenly got to the age where they can go to away matches?
I assume you’re referring to me.

You do realise kids are born every year and they’ll be a steady stream of people in this situation.

At the moment, it’s a case of those with high points get to go to all the games and won’t countenance anyone going to even one game if it means they can’t go to all.

Not to mention those on shift work, those who can’t afford to go to every game, and so on.

It’s a closed shop with no way of entering unless demand drops, and I don’t believe the fables that it will drop next season. People are assuming we’ll end up being shit again, but I don’t see that and I don’t buy the “just wait and we promise we’ll change it if it doesn’t get better” either.

Yes, you went to Norwich on a Tuesday, that shouldn’t mean you get to go to every single away game and others get to go to none.

The solution is to give a bcp for every home game and women’s game too. Then every bcp you have is one entry into the ballot.

That way someone on 70pts gets 70 entries and is 70 times more likely to get a ticket than someone on one, but it gives everyone a chance.

With that process fans who’ve attended 80 away games in the last 3 seasons are forced to pay substantially higher travel and accommodation costs as they’d not know until a few weeks before a game whether or not they have a ticket.

If fans can only afford to go to the mags game put them at the top of the list for a ticket shall we.

I assume you want to see empty away ends at Brighton, Bournemouth etc as people would need to take time off work to travel.

It’s absolutely not the solution
Everyone has had a chance at a ticket for the last 8 years, we don’t need to rewrite the definition of loyalty for the PL fans

But people were only born after that time apparently.

People only had to work during the shit times but now they don’t have to work and can travel anywhere on a Saturday but they couldn’t travel to Gillingham for example.

Would have been nice to get a single point for every home game, Being a seasoncard holder for over 5 years now that would have been around 100 points by now.
The reason is that the recent PL Season Card holders wil have as much a chance as long serving SC holders getting tickets say for Wembley FA Cup.
To me thats unfair? Unless there is a system in place to allow long serving SC holders better access?
You wouldn't be any better off. Everybody with more points will go to every home game.

It'll just make the points required for from 65 to 265
