Whats your choice of wine?

I had a 19 the other day, the haloween special one. It was disgusting. Still drank it of course, I'm from Peterlee ffs.

Just going off that blerk I suggested, the Malbec is better for £8.50. And the Volcanic Cab Sav for £10.50 is apparently excellent. Both Cassiero Diablo.

That Campo Viejo is a good brand too imo. Used to get it all the time in Spain for peanuts.

Oh, and anything by Errazuriz is usually a safe bet.
Been meaning to try that volcanic red.
Campo viejo about 6 euros in Lidl Spain -Bargain! But I turn into a proper tightarse: 'naah look at all these others for 3 euros.'

The nice thing about wine is there are different styles to fit different moods or tastes.

More red than white but enjoying a lovely Chignin white from the Savoie at the moment.

A few mentioned Cairanne which is a good value cotes du rhone village. Gigondas is knock out as are Seguret and Sablet to a lesser extent. Generally the villages wines are a step up from the cotes du Rhone. Northern Rhones are pricier but more syrah based and delicious especially St Joseph. Can't afford the Hermitage though.

I am rather partial to Bordeaux which is underpriced at the moment. You can get decent Medoc or Haut Medoc for around a tenner, which considering the quality is excellent. Just picked up a 2014 for under £12 which is barmy. These are more cybernetic sauvignon based with merlot being on the other side of the river in St Emilion and its satellites.

Spanish red are also good value especially Riojas but Ribeiro del duero are a bit much although my personal favourite along with Toro. Also look our for Bobal from around Valencia.

You might have noticed I quite like wine 🍷

My current favourite is Spatburgunder (?).

Austrian or German.

The only white I can drink is Cremont.

Do love Lacryma Christie as well but hard to get here

Yep. I actually went to their winery in Marlborough. Fell in love with it there. Always a treat. Was around £24 a bottle last time I bought some.
Been buying it for years. Never seen it be any cheaper (perhaps a £1) than that.
Same with Posip Stina (Croatian). Been buying that for last 3/4 years. Consistently £23.

Know nothing about wine, wish I knew more tbh I'll give owt a go, same with beers, craft/IPA/porters the lot.

If I'm buying a "decent" bottle for myself then white is sancerre red is chateauneuf du pap

Generally just red for me and usually Shiraz or Cab Sav.

Aldi did a smashig Lebanese Red in 2024 and I still have one bottle remaining. I doubt that it will be on the shelves again any time soon.

A good Tauteval Rousillon for normal drinking . A 1982: chateau Medoc if we're spending money, which i wont 😄
Can't go past Cotes du Roussillion villages surrounded by it. Lesquerde or a nice Carmany always fits the bill or a Chateau Planeres from Jaubert at Saint Jean Lasseille is just up the road from us recommend it.
