Disagree, most on here, me included, expected Xhaka coming here for a last payday. Not in my wildest dreams did I expect the influence he has brought this season. Signing this kid would take us to the next level in club stature, although I don’t actually think it’s genuine. However KLD said he wanted us to compete not just survive in the Premier and I didn’t believe that either!!!!!
I need to be more trusting should be my New Year resolution.

It's what Barça wants, for whatever hidden financial necessity.
He's worth it. Whether we have the money or not is a question to ask KLD.
The other big question is why would he swap Barcelona for Wearside. I find that very difficult, nigh on impossible - unless we could guarantee Champions league football, which obviously we can't.
That he would consider the Premier is doubtless though. There's no smoke without fire and something is going on between Barça and Fermin.

If this kid signed he would become the poster boy, generate massive publicity on and off the field for us which would in turn generate revenue no doubt. It’s for sure the next step if we want to grow, does seem a big step to far too soon though but we know this board mean business.
 
Why on earth would he leave Barca at 22 and playing every week to come here? He's already at peak club level, and could easily be in Barca's starting midfield for the next decade, winning all sorts of silverware.

Getting Xhaka in was a blinding bit of business, but he'd already played at the height of his career and at 33 fancied a completely different challenge to the one this lad is facing now.

Even if we have the money, I just can't see why he'd leave when he's getting picked and is seen as one of their best young talents.

This sort of carry on only happens in video games. 😆
