Fermin Lopez (transfer rumour)

Spread over a 5/6 year deal, it absolutely is possible
Only if the rest of our total costs remain incredibly small. At the end of the day, the club makes what it makes and so can sustain what it can sustain. That sort of cost - even when amortised over the full 5 years - would leave us little leeway for anything else. Wages, other transfers etc would have to be curtailed. Even selling players to balance it doesn’t help all that much as if I read the new rules right, sale proceeds now get booked over multiple years too. The only way safc can afford to spend that sort of fee on a single player is if we sell a player for £100m first.

Why not? If we stay up we get 100m, and that’s pretty much guaranteed now really. Plus we have player sales in the summer too, and any investment from our owner.

We don’t need 11 new players this time. Quality not quantity.
Just can’t see it, not many teams have spent that on one player. He maybe class and I’m glad we’re being linked with these types but 60m man that’s for teams in the champions league etc.

£60m though? Not sure we’re quite there yet.
Why not? We don't need to buy another 10 players, we only need to go for 2-3 top quality players plus one or two bargains over the next two windows to get to the next level.

In terms of ambition I think it's on the same level with signing Xhaka as a newly promoted team that had 0 chances of staying up with the promoted squad. Maybe KLD wants to shock in every transfer window. 😁

The club will have fairly predictable but narrow revenue possibilities if we disregard transfer business. I dare say we could “afford it” in terms of cash flow, but it’s putting too many of our eggs in one basket, if this story is to be believed. Which I don’t.

I’m only giving it the tiniest amount of credence because of what KLD and co. managed to pull of last summer.

It all depends on how much the owners have and want to spend and how good their accountants are at swindling the rules in their favour.

No point, in a business like football saying we can or can't afford anything as we dont know. But ultimately however much we are willing to spend depends on how well we can get round the rules (see Chelsea).

Hopefully don’t find out for another 18 months!

To an extent perhaps. But loopholes continue to get closed and at the end of the day KLD has never been a sugar daddy type. Even in the PL the club talks about sustainability. And SAFC, with its location, corporate potential and ticket prices, can’t sustain £60m fees without making bigger sales first imo.

You must be daft as a brush then
Yeah just like those who woukd not havr had DCL on a free..

My point remains.. If we cannot get our first choice target in i would rather have Sterling in if fit as a squad member rather than the Ukrainian kid.. Only if his wages were covered.

Thus keeping our powder dry until the summer transfer window.

Look at the bench today ffs

I mean the bench comment is strange given what we have to come back in a few weeks

Who's that Ukrainian kid?

We have 6 players at the AFCON, of course the bench is thin.

Why are people still believing a dogshit rumour…. €80m

When really the club sensibly are in the £20/30m market for talent
