Man City - 115 Charges

The problem is the PL aren’t fighting a football club. They are fighting an oil rich state.

The owners of City could easily spend £50m on legal fees and then spend another £50m if things aren’t going well. The PL can’t do that.

Unless they can prove without all doubt that City cheated, you are not going to see the huge punishment some are wanting.

Imo, City will get hit with a monster fine (which Abu Dhabi will pay instantly) and then a 12-15 point reduction. Ultimately that gifts Arsenal the league but City will have enough to stay in the top 4.
There's no chance of a points deduction and even if it did happen, Arsenal are not the only team in the title race.

Irrelevant anyway, as nothing will happen for years imo and even when it does, it'll be a fine. I think it's clear by now that they won't be punished.

That was because Rangers went bust and had to effectively re-from as a new club and as such had to start at the Bottom (which they didn't). I said at the time that League Two is not the bottom of the Scottish Pyramid. Rangers should have been made to start in the South of Scotland league division 4 which I believe was the lowest lever of the increasingly complicated pyramid in Scotland at the time.

At the time the pyramid didn't exist, so it should've more been a case of them having to apply for the vacant place.

Bookies must think theres a decent chance of a points deduction given their current relegation odds are the same as ours at 33/1

Bookies odds are based on people placing bets. Means sod all. Man City were even shorter odds to go down at various points over the last few seasons and absolutely bugger all happened.

If they are found guilty they should have the book thrown at them, but the punishment Everton and Forest got has nothing to do with what City should get. Everton admitted that they broke the rules, they then tried to blame it on the stadium interest but still admitted they broke the rules. City are well within their rights to deny it and throw tens of millions at it, Everton, Forest and every PL team agreed to the rules which were badly written which have allowed this.

I fully agree with you that if City are found guilty they deserve a huge punishment but what Everton admitted and their punishment has absolutely nothing to do with City. 99% of people who are doing it don’t understand the charges, that’s the issue.

Depends which part they are found guilty of tbh, there’s only really 3 charges just repeated multiple times (another stupid move by the PL). The off book payments will be solid to prove as who is the judge of how much Mancini is worth for training super rich kids? It’s all a mess but added to the mess is the fact the PL wanted to look big and powerful and instead of just going after 6 or 7 charges they when for over 115.
thats over a hundred times of breaking the rules. should be a heavy punishment.

If they are found guilty of all charges then it will be a heavy punishment but my point was the fact the PL went after over 115 is the reason its take so long, the sensible route would have been to go after 10 charges they were most likely to prove. I’m not saying they are the same as they arent but Everton admitted they broke the rules for 1 single charge but had 40k pages of evidence. That means city could have over 4m pages, that’s why it’s taken so long.

If they have broke the rules I hope they get the book thrown at them but I don’t hold my breath as the rules were very badly written.

I think what will eventually happen when the verdict eventually is reached will be:

Relegation to the third tier of English football

A £500m fine

Transfer embargo for three windows

Stripped of all titles and honours during the time of the alleged offences.

A warning shot to the rest. Zero tolerance to financial doping and trying to cover it up with a smokescreen

Hopefully we’ll benefit by moving up a place in the table and finishing 5th.

Everyone hid behind Covid sure Man Utd claimed tens of millions in loses due to Chinese superstores not opening so they couldn’t sell stuff.

It’s more that people are repeating things that are either untrue or impossible to happen, City can’t be relegated, they can only have points deducted du to it being the PL and not the PL and EFL so worst they could get is championship and it’s a totally different thing to Everton and Forest who admitted they broke tbh rules also the time frames for charges and punishments were changed and agreed by all clubs.

Once the decision is released it’ll be even worse as people who know 1% will comment and spread the untruths again.

Sounds daft but say the PL hit them with a 100 point deduction guarenteeing their relegation...could the Football League refuse to take them?
