Leeds 28/12/25 thread

Wont be one of our easiest games this season. They are on good form and will be on a high after palace. Personally want to see rigg dropped for isidor. Play 2 up front with 2 wingers. Brobbey is excellent and holdup play and Isidor can run in behind. Think it’s too early to put Mayenda straight into starting 11 as he may not be a little sloppy after being on bench for a while…
Their away form is crap though. One win. Guess where that was....a draw with Brentford and lost the rest on road.

We really should win this tbh. No excuses.

Need two strikers the play at the same time.. they're both too isolated when they play.

In the last four game we've scored two goals.. a fortunate deflection against Liverpool and a fortunate own goal against Newcastle.

4 away goals all season, only Wolves have less.

Can't understand why Mayenda isn't getting minutes either.. looked good at start of the season, making some great forward runs.

The season is going fantastic and we're in a great position in the league but we definitely need to start scoring more goals and playing two strikers together surely has to be tried a bit more often.

I think this is a fair summary. If you’re into the stats there is a league table that shows where clubs would be based on xg and xga. Interestingly our positions were almost reversed with Leeds top half and Sunderland bottom 4

I know stats mean nothing but it does create some hope knowing how strong you are at home.. Clearly we will be playing for set pieces and interesting Palace hadn’t conceded from long throws all season and then concede 2 against us.

That said I do think you could play through our midfield relatively easily with Xahka probably the best PL signaling of the summer

Hoping the AFCON impacts you and we can can both claim a valuable point. Think we will try and go for the win knowing the run we have coming up

I expect this one to be a great game tbh with Leeds looking to disrupt as much as possible
We've conceded the 3rd fewest goals in the league, and have 2 clean sheets in a row.

We give very little away - Man City aside. I also think despite us missing a couple of key players, that the things you'll rely on to be successful (height, strength, aggression, set pieces) are things that we are exceptional at, defensively. If you want to go direct up to a big front 2 and compete in the air and have physical battles, that's something that Ballard and Alderete will absolutely rub their hands together for.
At home you won your cup final with a freak own goal and have only won against West Ham, Brentford, Wolves and Bornemouth and you have Brian your prolific striker on two goals.

We are pretty shit away from home but I am fairly confident we can come away with a point.
We've won almost 50% of our games, have the 3rd best defensive record in the league, and have kept more clean sheets in the 8 days than you've kept all season.

At some point you’d think we will get a disappointing home defeat that we didn’t expect. Really hope it’s not Sunday with City the match after Leeds.

With our weakened squad and Leeds improved form since changing formation , which includes a point at Brentford and losing in injury time to Man City, we will need to be on red alert as per usual .

Hard to imagine Xhaka or RLB allowing those standards to slip. I think it will be tough and probably a draw looks the most likely outcome as it stands.

Really hope we come out of the traps and get an early goal which sees them wobble. The atmosphere has to be electric again .

We have a great home record, they have a very poor away record, why is everyone shiting it? They won't be able to live with our intensity and physicality. DCL wont like playing against Bullard and Alderete

I think a big factor in your favour is that the SOL, RLB and pretty much your entire squad were an unknown quantity in the PL. For sure you have been able to capitalise on it and your relatively soft opening games helped to build belief throughout the club

Would love it if the positions were reversed but I do feel that the current league position (not points total) flatters you a little. Not a criticism it just feels like a funny league this year and I’m more than happy for you guys to stay up…just so long as it’s not at our expense!

Would love to see Wolves, West Ham and Brentford all go down and 3 really shit / skint teams all come up
Can’t see Brentford going down, think Burnley take their place.

No team in the league are going to fancy playing at the SOL currently, the place is a fortress.

We have already scalped a number of teams who are doing better than Leeds so why are some writing us off for this one?

I mean if we ain't got a chance against Leeds there's no point turning up against City.

Most teams look capable of beating anyone on their day this season and with our home record we have a chance against just about anyone surely.

Brazilian giant in goal.
Big bastard back 3 of Bijol, Struijk, Rodon,
PL hardest midfield 3 of Ampadu, Gruev, Stach.
Scariest PL front two of DCL and Nmecha
Bogle and Gudmundsson bombing down the wings.

Scared Sunderland 0 Dirty Leeds 2
Some team that. Stach is unreal

Leeds are on a good run so it won't be an easy game....but worth pointing out that 3 of their last 4 have been at home. A point wouldn't be a disaster but we should be going for the win here
They've got the same points as us in the last 6 games

I'm very confident going into this game
Great opportunity for us to tick off these last few required wins

Away at Spurs, Brentford, WHU, home to Palace: we could be safe by the end of Jan.
we're 6th at Christmas, forget about relegation....

There is absolutely no chance that RLB changes the formula that got us to 6th and plays 2 up top. Absolutely no chance, especially with Leeds having 5 in the middle.

This longing for 442 baffles me to be honest, it's like some people have woken from a 30 year footballing coma.

Agree with this, I think we're set up defensively to handle the type of football Leeds have been successful at recently. My only concern for this game is our own lack of goal threat, as Leeds' own physicality will negate our set pieces.

Could see another 0-0 to be honest or a tight 1-0 either way. I would go Mundle & Adingra out wide to start, trying to either keep Bogle & Gudmunsson pinned back, or get opportunities to take on the outer CBs 1v1 is probably our best chance of scoring.

Brobbey to start and try and wear out Bijol/Rodon, then bring on Mayenda & Isidor to run at them last 20 minutes.

I'm not concerned too much about that tbh, we've scored plenty of goals at home (15 goals in 8 home games). We've scored in every home game so far as well.

I'm not writing us off, but I think we MAY struggle. A point is a good result for us.

You're right. Putting another forward on, that we don't pass to! Means that we are one down elsewhere.
