Mixed feelings upon seeing the score at the close. I watched up until 1am, Aussies were around 60/2 and even though we had them 33/2, I thought we had bowled quite poorly. Carse was all over the place and whilst Archer was economical, he was unthreatening. Khawaja came to the crease at 33/2 with his career on the line and we barely made him play early in his innings.
That said, the pitch looks good, the conditions are favourable for batting so I think we have limited them quite well despite having them 94/4. It will go back to that old adage that you can't judge a pitch until both sides have batted on it, but we have put ourselves in a good position which could have been even better.
Far from ideal having Jacks bowl 20 overs on day one and his figures reflect that.
Finally, am I missing something with Cameron Green? I don't think I have ever seen him score more than 40 and he averages 1 wicket per test. Him coming in at 5 shows that this Australia batting line up is really quite weak.
