Any changes for the 3rd Test

They are going ahead with their pre-planned mid-series break to Noosa, leaving them with only 3 practise days. They have already had a mid-series break, 3 days off after Perth.

Read the room lads, then again if they cancelled it then McCullum might actually have to do some coaching.

Fail in Adelaide and the knives are going to be not only out, but firmly in, given how they have "prepared" again.

I can understand a bit of r and r, get their heads back right then practise matches. Overs in the bowlers legs, batsmen get a bit more familiar with the pitch but this smacks of the jollyboys outing

I am not against this sort of thing but they have barely had a practise match and they have already had 4 days off across 2 tests. They need to do something different, like actually focus on some technical aspects or get players playing into some form.

Good question is who does the coaching? Batting wise, presumably McCullum and Trescothick -both fine attacking batsmen but both pretty one-dimensional.
McCullum waffles but has yet to recognise or admit that there's an issue.
Jimmy was the bowling coach but he appears to have been discarded.
Don't think anything is going to change either in approach or execution.
0-5, none going the full distance,Cricket Australia going to take a massive financial hit

Tim Southee is the bowling coach and he's not even on the tour I don't think  sure I read a while ago he had some franchise cricket commitments.

I love Tres but he has no coaching pedigree, McCullum has never coached a FC side and Colly is AWOL.

McCullum admits he doesn't work on technique, so I am not sure who does.

EDIT: Apparently Saker is back as bowling coach for this series.

David Saker is a prominent Australian cricketer known for his role as a fast bowling coach. He has played a significant part in the success of the England cricket team, including key roles in the 2010-11 Ashes series and the 2022 T20 World Cup. Saker's coaching expertise has been instrumental in training the fast bowlers for the upcoming Ashes series in Australia. I

You’d hope they see what Australia have selected, accurate line and length bowlers, and pick Potts ……. even though he isn’t the bowler he was a year ago
I can understand a bit of r and
But they’ve had 4 extra days off when they should have been involved in Test cricket

Unsuprisingly, they look undercooked. I think there needs to be a change at 3 though obviously there's more wrong than just Pope at 3. Replace him with Bethell, but I'd be tempted to play Stokes at 3. Tongue in for Carse.

Carse? Is he injured? Atkinson and Archer should be dropped before Brydon.

Went all in on archer, wrapped him up in cotton wool barely playing red ball cricket. Game against Durham he was sitting in a chair between overs and were expecting him to suddenly have the stamina and fitness for bowling long periods in Australia. All that to return 3 wickets at 57 from 47 overs. Atleast his economy is one of the best

i said a bit mind, ie 12/24 hours off to reset then train like fuck but it just seems they are on a lads holliday with cricket now and again

We have very little room to move with this squad. I doubt they will take a chance on Bethell (probably quite rightly) so Pope will stay by default. I think playing Bashir would also be a risk too far.
This means that any changes would be to the pace bowling. The management like Carse because of his whole hearted approach but he could be replaced by Tongue.
