Any changes for the 3rd Test

Im still unsure on bethell tbh
0 FC centuries and looked like a rabbit in the headlights against India due to how little red ball practice he had.

To then just throw him at 3 when were 2-0 down with Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon coming back in. Is utterly ludicrous frankly.

Our management of his has been utterly shite. I think putting him would be further adding to that.

But at the same time I'm completely done with Pope and Stokes being thrown in the deep end after Trott packed up mid series was the making of him.

So maybe it could be for Jacob.

I understand the philosophy of sticking by players for a fair crack of the whip, but 2 out of the top 3 aren't test standard and there are alternatives out there. I'll back them if they play though.

There was deffo a culture in the 90's of not backing players enough, its about a balance.

Just seems another that is fast tracked based on vibes mainly to me and odi ability. But maybe it is a masterstroke. I just remember when we tried to shoe horn butler in, i guess is how it feels to me. Tbf to bethell though, its hard to know his capabilities when he has played that little cricket in red ball

They don’t have an alternative keeper. They didn’t pick one, because of vibes and stuff
or a spare opener.

Selection has been muddled for a LONG time now, even predating the Bazball era
I think they will go

Duckett
Crawley
Bethell
Root
Brook
Stokes
Smith
Jacks
Atkinson
Tongue
Archer
It's pathetic that there are no options for rest and rotation of the batters.
The Ashes, particularly a heavy defeat usually signals the end of a cycle. Surely this has to be the end of times for the likes of Pope and Crawley. Duckett has a decent record, albeit it feels like it's been a while since he's played a significant innings.
Smith looks utterly beaten down after 2 tests and the bowling attack that looked so fast and dangerous on day 1 in Perth suddenly looks like mid-90s England.

The A team is currently in the process of losing by an innings to their Australian counterparts. Indeed, as someone who is stuck in Brisbane with something to do tomorrow, and since it’s only a walk away, I could even watch them do so. Though I think I might find something better to do.

Why does everyone assume there are lots of replacements available?
At this point I'm at an absolute loss with it all but this sounds reasonable enough. I'd have Smith nowhere near the side but I don't think we have an alternative in Australia at the moment?
I’d move Pope down, give him the gloves, drop Smith and accommodate Bethell that way. Although I’m by no means sold on Bethell. But we need to get Smith out of the side. He looks like a rabbit in the headlights at present.
