The most worrying thing about this is that when Stokes goes, Brook is going to be captain. He will probably take out a double headed coin for the toss and still call tails.

Yep. Test cricket in this country is on borrowed time. Will the Ashes survive another 20years?

I’m not sure he will be. If the ashes ends up 4 or 5-0, then the whole set up will change.
Stokes may stay on as player but McCullum will leave the red ball side, Key might go from the ECB and the new head coach will probably choose a proper test cricketer for captain and vice captain.
Who that’ll be nobody knows, because the only proper test cricketers we’ve got at the moment are Root & Stokes![]()
Keep producing players that can’t bat in any other gear than T20 and they’ll dwindle.Thankfully crowds are still as large as ever in England, rarely an issue selling out for a test match despite the inflated prices.

He hasn’t changed then ?I played against Brook in my youth. He was a dopey arrogant prick even in those days.
? Couldn’t hear anything untowardAggers may be dropped for the next test (Warning, spicy language)

Or was it some innocent words which sounded worse?
Maybe not in the current setup, but surely Haseeb Hameed has the qualifications and deserves another go. I've mentioned previously that I felt he should be on this tour.Other than Stokes, I don't see any leaders in the current set up. It'll be Brook next by default either way.
Got worse if anythingHe hasn’t changed then ?
The first couple of times I listened, when he says 'If I could.....' it sounded worse.? Couldn’t hear anything untoward![]()

Before anyone says he has had a chance and wasn't good enough and was discarded, Crawley and others aren't good enough as specialist batsmen but don't appear to have the 'stigma' of being dropped.
Otherwise Mike Brearley is a good shout.
Reminds me of Neil from the inbetweenersI played against Brook in my youth. He was a dopey arrogant prick even in those days.
Why. It would probably be the ultimate insult from him, it takes an Aussie to build a decent England etcPonting would never coach England come on now
Boycott said pretty much the same on Vaughny`s podcast. They should be out playing matches before the test, gettng used to pink balls, getting used to the aussie tracks etcYou must be logged on to see media items- spot on
Can't really argue with that.
Neil is likeable though. Brook is like a cross of Jay and Neil with the worst bits of both. “Mitch Starc? Nah mate, hit him for 50 in his first over didn’t I”Reminds me of Neil from the inbetweeners
Stokesy, Stokesy, stop the car, I've cut my cock on a tin can.Reminds me of Neil from the inbetweeners
Is this bloke for real?
