With players it can 1 of 2 ways..with his collective criticism..it'll either fire players up or they'll go into thier shells..it'll say alot if it does fire them up or it goes the other way.

That's why as much as I understood the anger towards Steve Smith, he told a truth to Jofra that is a metaphor for this England team, thats why Archer bit at him imo.

Fat chance. My reaction when Stokes was out was that I hoped his example would carry over into the next test. Next test? It didn’t even carry over into the next over with Atkinson and Carse reverting to giving the Aussies catching practice.

The Skipper showed you how to do it today. Their best two bowlers showed you how to do it yesterday. Do you have a brain cell between you you useless arseholes?

100% what he's saying now is right.
I think he didn't want to feel like he was backtracking at the end of the 1st test, it was wrong what he said but could see why he was saying it (denial or protecting the players).

They've had 2 weeks to prepare for this and he feels let down by a bunch of the players now after he's publicly backed them.

Finn speaking sense as well, Stokes is asking the players to step up and take some responsibility.

Lets just ditch T20 Test cricket (aka bazball).

It works against some teams but playing it against Australia is cricket suicide. Looks like they've finally realised that but it's too late to win this series.

Yeah. Prior is spot on. Stokes is fronting up and he always puts his body on the line for this team (at times wrecklesly but we know what Stokes is like). I would love him as a captain /manager in my team because he always gets stuck in. I'm not saying his decision making is always the best, however he never ever hides. He needs to go in that dressing room and rips heads off. Matt Prior is superb here, get him in the dressing room
 
This Stokes interview on TNT is the best one I think I've heard from him yet.

More humility than I've ever heard, the bullishness we normally get not there.

Admitting faults that we've seen for 2 and half years.

Stokes and Root won't allow them and if they do, then the A team players will come in.
Stokes seemed so angry and bullish that I can see some players leaving the tour 'injured' if they are not upto it.

Feels like some home truths are going to be said in private
