The tackle was an embarrassment at that stage of the game, 20 seconds left launching in with a challenge like that 3-0 down is ridiculous
It is competition winner stuff

We’ve got Afcon coming up people getting 3 game bans for stupid stuff like that is embarrassing

Where he excelled in recent years was in games where we had 50%+ possession, being calm on the ball and moving it out of defense, being brave when teams snuck in behind, with a bit of shithousery to boot. We're now a much, much more conservative team and being organised defensively and staying switched on it what it's all about. I don't think he's at the age, or going to get the game time to ever adapt to that now sadly. He's also a bit hot-headed to say the least, and definitely a player that "grows" into games - so coming on as a sub just might not suit him.

I really hope it's not over after this, but the timing of this ban with AFCON and January on the horizon means he's likely to be replaced sharpish and those cameos likely will be few and far between now.

Will always love him to bits and a rash challenge like that won't change my opinion one iota on his importance to Sunderland.

We pass it far quicker and break quickly and have players who are quicker, stronger and better than last season . The opposition are the same . He’s absolutely miles off it in terms of ability and speed of thought . That’s no shame because he’s had a brilliant career and played hundreds of games for Sunderland. The Premier league is levels above the championship . That’s why he doesn’t suit it
 
Just seen the challenge. I love the fella for what he has achieved with us but you can't excuse that challenge, It's reckless, dangerous and just damn right stupid. I think there is a serious question in there about his capabilities at this level. I know some won't like it but, I think he could be out of his depth.

Not sure given we might have a few away come the African Cup.

however after that and he will have a decision to make about how long he wants to hang around as a cheerleader at SAFC rather than a player. Clearly he has reached his level - absolutely - and today he simply wasn't quick enough to the tackle and off he went.

He has been a great servant to the club but every dog has its day and maybe his has almost passed at SAFC.

we shall see.

I thought he’d played a few good passes/touches before he did that, felt like he was far to hyped up and recklessly jumped in, no doubt about, he’ll be extremely disappointed with it, luckily it was last action of a match we had heavily lost and he’s not a first team regular. No loss, worth the 2 minutes of entertainment. Roll on next week
 
Tremendous servant for the club in league 1 and championship however he is not a premier league footballer. As much as I want him to make the step up and be a success for us he just doesn’t have the ability (someone please bump this in 2 years to prove me wrong)
