I just need to persuade the family unit to stay in Marske for a weekend. I’ve never been but I searched some threads on here and it sounds ok.I might do it more regularly if it works out as 2x 170 mile journeys in one day is hard work with kids, dog, miserable mrs etc.

Loads got turned away for the 13.11 at horden. Packed and only two carriages. I got there about ten mins before it arrived and the platform was loaded already. Don’t even attempt it and loads of lads got turned away and started walking towards Peterlee. Joke of a service. If you by a ticket beforehand you should get on the train like it’s mental.

2 carriages about 1, half 1, got on at boro and by the time I got to Sunderland it was just a mass of hot unhappy people

Be interesting to see if the GC staff check tickets from seaham. They usually never bother from Eaglescliffe.
I’d imagine a lot of passengers will opt for the GC service from seaham over Northern, as they’ll be guaranteed a seat!

If you use a website called real time trains you can actually see what set is being used for what time you need to travel. It'll tell you how many coaches there are what unit numbers they are and which formation they are in. If it's a 2 car you'll know to go get the bus instead of hoping for a 4.
