SOL expansion

While East Stand extension would cosmetically look better (overall) and increase capacity more than South Stand extension, if the intent is to create more corporate that seems a bit odd, as those are the only tickets we cant flog at the minute!

Also, Id love the South Stand to be done (and done a bit differently) as mentioned - one huge tier home/rail seat/standing home end would be special (and the walk from the bridge would look class)
This - it would have to be one big tier surely? If needed the east could be done two tier?

If they extended the south stand would the SWC be made two tier?

The only corporate area that isn’t selling out is 76 Yards and that’s because they have priced it wrong, all the areas Quinn’s, Monty, riverview etc are sold out every game. All I would take is new lounges with seats in good location and price it around £1500 - £2000 and would sell out easily.

There is absolutely no way they would extend south without doing south west, it would look ridiculous.

Also as good as 1 big tier safe standing sounds, the take up has been mixed on Safe standing bottom tier, I’m not sure how we could presume we could fill an extended stand with it?

Loads of new lounges in the east, with a double level of boxes. Increase capacity by around 7k but have a wide range of offerings, from 2.5k a season all the way up to 8k a season.

Need to do it quick before Sunderland council scupper it

There's another factor with 76 Yards. Many fans still identify it with the old BCB, despite the transition. If it were a new space, I suspect it would be selling better.

For the price, they're not exactly premium location seating either and in an area of the ground fans have avoided because of issues with away fans.

Put them in the first 10 rows of a new east stand upper tier and they'll be a lot more attractive.

If we did expand a South Stand expansion would make sense as this is where potential issues may arise in the future if housing is built up to it.

I would would go for an East stand extension, and have it at entry level corporate with a decent place for a drink.

Stuff like boxes are way over subscribed mate, and that’s 25 year old ones, new technology since then could put some next level boxes in.

And that’s why I don’t think we do the south stand mate, you are really limited with what you can do there.
Is that why you think they’ll do the east stand? Obviously way more room for boxes that end than if they mirror the north stand at the south. Can see some announcements soon though if we manage to stay up I think it pushes it on quicker than some think.

If you are aiming for more match day revenue aside from corporate expansion you make the normal fan have a relaxing space to buy beers in the warmth before and during the game. A concourse is old school modern grounds don’t really have them they have areas, spaces, lounges etc. Fans go to the ground and drink before the match because its pleasant and because you can do it until 2.55 and still be in your seat for kick off.

I’m not sure the SOL can improve to do that. But it’s what modern grounds have. A slightly wider concourse isn’t the answer.
I would 100% go to the ground a few hours before and spend money in there if it was more welcoming and relaxed feel. I’m getting older (43) and the thought of standing around in packed pubs around and near the ground is starting to lose a bit of appeal. However I also don’t want to spend or can afford a 76 yards or the other semi corporate fare so something in between is maybe a space that we are lacking.

If they do do the east I think it leaves room for more boxes which we badly need but also maybe a space like modern stadium have where the concourses ain’t rammed like sardines and it’s a bit more open. It’s the way football is going more boxes and the lack but also attracting your hardcore normal match fan to come earlier and spend more.

It shows on the plans that the South West Corner will have the upper tier. Its basically a mirror image of the North Stand Upper extention except it wont have the bit where the seating levels change like the North West Upper and the façade to the back of the South Stand will be glazed rather than cladd in sheeting.
